Still sniffling...

Did anyone watch the speech this morning? It was so moving and gave me real hope for the future...

My favorite quote:

"With hope and virtue, let us brave once more the icy currents, and endure what storms may come. Let it be said by our children's children that when we were tested we refused to let this journey end, that we did not turn back nor did we falter; and with eyes fixed on the horizon and God's grace upon us, we carried forth that great gift of freedom and delivered it safely to future generations."

In addition to feeling hopeful about our political and national future, I am personally feeling an emotional release of pain I didn't know I was holding. The pain was the racial divide that has separated our country for so long. That divide has not been completely spanned, but today we are able to build together--I feel the grateful release of pain and unfulfilled longing in others, that clears the way for a boundless future. And I am so happy.

It was a beautiful, moving speech that gave hope not only to your nation but also to nations around the globe...

While no country is without its own skeletons or obstacles to overcome, the strong racial divide in the US, a country that was supposed to be a world leader, resulted in a somewhat tainted world view of the US.  How is peace ever to be reached if even such and advanced, enterprising society as the US cannot overcome its own racial divide? The uniting of your nation proved that it is possible to overcome discord and truly move forward as one people.

What a wonderful gift.
