I have a 3 month old that spits up and still only weighs 9lbs. Have any of you experienced this and if so what was the outcome and how did you fix the problem?

My daughter was like that. At first the dr thought I was not making enough milk for her so I tried supplementing with formula and that didn't work. She would only take about 4 ounces of breastmilk or formula each feeding and if I gave her more she would projectile vomit. I started pumping and making sure she didn't get too much at a time and that helped. She was in a negative percentile in weight until she was 2 years old. She grew but very slowly, now at 3 she is in 25% weight and even though she is still on the small size she is and always was healthy. The dr said she had no physical problems but she just has a small stomach which could only hold so much. As long as the baby is growing then it is okay but talk to the dr anyway, my daughter was always so tiny but she was developing at a normal rate. Good luck!!

My daughter weighed 6lbs at 2 months old. She had a condition at birth that caused it. I took her to a specialist and he told me to put an extra scoop of formula in the bottles. More calories means more weight!!! That def helped my little girl, we just saw the pedi and Colleen is now 12lbs at 4 months!
Good luck!

I'd have your lo seen by a ped. It could be reflux. All my children have had varying degrees of it and each has been on meds for it. We found that along with the reflux, my second son also has a dairy allergy so that cut out needed fat and calories. He was born small and thanks to reflux, allergies and just his genetic make-up he is still small. He was only 12.5lbs at 12mo old, 16lbs by 18mo and didn't hit 20lbs until he was 26mo old. He will be 4yrs old next month and weighs 29.5 lbs. He has pretty much outgrown the reflux but is still very allergic to dairy and has asthma so we don't expect him to be very big for a long time. He shocks the peds when they first see him as he looks like a 2yr old but he is generally healthy and they aren't concerned when they see that he is on the same growth curve he's been on since birth. We did celebrate when he came on the charts for the first time since birth this month though, 3% for weight and 10% for height.

yeah my kids used to do that with the formula, when they were babies they changed the formula because they kept on spiting up,so it might just be the formula your babies on i would ask the doctor about it

I think you should see a doctor asap. If he spits up a lot at every feeding it could be something called Pyloric Stenosis. Go to the doctor

You really should go to the pediatrician. S/He will probably suggest you switch to a soy based or other sensitive tummy formula if you are formula feeding. If you are breast feeding you should start avoiding all dairy products. The pediatrician should help you figure out what your child is sensitive to. It will take at lest 2 weeks for all dairy to be out of your system so be patient.
My sister went through this with her son. About 2 weeks after switching to the soy formula, he spit up about 1/4 as much as he did before and he gained almost a pound. He gradually spit up less and less over time.
