Did you sing a country song to your son or daughter, to help them go to sleep or calm them?? When I was pregnant with my daughter, I listened to every kind of music imaginable, but I listened to A LOT of country. After she was born, I, for whatever reason, sang Taylor Swift's, "You Belong to Me" to her and it would calm her and she would go to sleep. To this day, when she hears it, she smiles from ear to ear and dances her little baby bootie off!!!! :)

I sang and read a lot to my son while he was in the womb and after his birth. I truly believe by singing or reading to them, they are aware. A lot of country music is very calming and peaceful, I would agree that would calm a child down. I noticed with a recent child I was around that I had never done this too and it helped, so even if they are not used to it on a daily basis and I wasn't the mother, singing still helped.

I used to sing Randy Travis "forever and ever, amen" to him, it always calmed him down and made him smile. still does and he is almost four.

I still sing lullabies to my babies...and they are now 5 and 6!!! Many of the songs are actual lullabies (Lady Moon, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star,Tell Me a Tale)...but I ALWAYS sing them "Love ,Me" by Collin Raye. I also sing the country version of some Disney songs that I have on "The Best of Country sings the Best of Disney"...including "Baby Mine", "When you Wish Upon A Star", "A Whole New World" and "Kiss THe Girl". I am lucky...they are musical kids. Their favorite DVDs are Grease, and Les Miserables- The Anniversary Concert...so they listen to a little bit of everything...

Jessica - That sounds just like my little one. She loves to dance...hasn't' quite got the singing down yet! But she loves to dance, even without music!!! :) I listened to a wide range of music when I was pregnant....The Beatles, Led Zep., Taylor Swift, Sugarland, Lady Antebellum, Eva Cassidy, Ray Charles, Billie Holiday, Rachael Yamagata, Ingrid Michaelson....the list could go on and on!!! I LOVE music.

My mother sang whatever song came to mind with me and my 2 brothers. some songs stuck and some didn't. I really like Brad Paisley's new song Anything Like Me. Sounds so much like something my husband would say if he could figure out how to say it. lol
