My granddaughter has recently starting eating baby cereal and I was just wondering if it was ok to give the baby a bottle one time and then give her cereal another time in feedings? My daughter had ask me and I wasnt sure what to tell her, I thought it was ok but wasnt sure.
thanks so much. Sincerely Penny

my daughter was 32 weeks along when she had Sarah. so Sarah is a "miricle baby". I was so scared for both my daugher and my grandbaby. she got the cord wrapped around her neck and body. so they had to do an emergency c-section. so she is a little behind others but doing good and catching up.

i started all four of my kids on cereal at about 4 months and mashed potatoes and soft table food by 7-8 months they sleep better and tend to grow a little faster. my son had surgery at 2 weeks old so i postponed when i started table food cause i wasnt sure if he could handle it but i started the cereal at the same time

Yes ! Actually, when my kids were just starting cereal, I would put just a bit of the cereal in their bottles with their formula. Of course, you need the nipples with the bigger holes in them. You will know when the babe is not getting enough from just the formula and that is when I started making the switch from formula to baby food ! I had no problems and have four very normal, happy and grown children.

My little one has three meals a day plus formula with his lunch and before bed. He has been under the dietitian because he was three months early. She is happy with this routine and has just suggested introducing meat and protein. When asked about the formula she suggested continuing to give it to him along as he wanted it. He started on food in September, at 9 months old or 6 month corrected which is what the hospital suggested and he is doing great. He is also pretty much on table food after trying pureed food and will eat almost anything. He also sleeps through the night.

I think it depends on the age of the baby. I started mine on cereal about 4 mths. I always gave mine a little bit of cereal in the morning for breakfast & then at night before bed with a bottle in hopes of them sleeping all night. They usually then would skip a feeding in the night! Many drs nowadays say don't give anything but formula the first year which I personally don't agree with. They change their thinking about every 10 yrs on the subject. My 10 mth old grandson will take a bottle about every 1 1/2 hrs without any baby food somewhere to hold him over so I give him some food. Poor boy is hungry! I think you have to go with your gut instinct sometimes!
