My father in law (whom i like way better than my MIL) and his wife and kids (divorced from MIL) are thinking about making a trip to see us during the kids spring break in about 3 weeks. They haven't decided yet, and I'm trying to plan a trip home to see my family. The best time would be at the same time my father in law is thinking of coming here, but i could push it back a week and just not get to see some of my family members. i keep trying to get an answer from my FIL and he hasn't decided. what should i do? should i just schedule my trip for the time i want to go? aahhhhhhhhhh my hubby definitely gets this bad habit from his dad too and it totally sucks!

I would decide who I wanted to see more, for yourself, and schedule your time accordingly.  If you want to see your family more than your FIL, then see your family.  I have started to notice that if I schedule things around other people, it just ends up makeing me upset.  If I schedule things to make me happy (and try my best to work with others) then if I upset other people it is easier for me to say sorry to them, then feel angry because I scrificed for someone else.  In my family anf in laws, no one ever appreciates the sacrifice, so it is not worth it.

Have a fun trip, with warmest wishes,

Beautiful profile picture!! What little sweethearts!! Schedule your trip and inform your fil about your upcoming plans. This may motivate him to make a decision and at least, he was respectfully informed. Put you in a good position plus you get to see your family! :)
