Bamboo diapers??

[deleted account] ( 3 moms have responded )

Hello - I am looking into doing bamboo diapers for my daughter. No matter what I have tried, all our cloth attempts have resulted in rashes. Does any have any recommendations for bamboo?

Thanks! Jennifer

We have used bamboo velour and bamboo terry in diapers before. I would recommend that. I sew my own so I can't help on brands, but I do have a free pattern available here if you're up for trying to sew: www.rctdiapers.webs.com. I would use a wool cover over it, or nothing during the day.

I have some amazing diapers too. I love them and since starting my fitteds and wool covers we have had no rashes caused by the diapers. We have had one when I was testing some new laundry soaps for some WAHMS, but other than that... NONE!!!

Bamboo is great since it is anti bacterial and also anti microbial. I would also suggest hemp . I combine the two in my diapers. I have a microfiber inner layer that wicks the moisture away from the baby's bum and into the absorbent layer!

I would suggest you get a fitted that has no waterproof layer. and same with the cover. If they aren't breathable they hold the moisture in and are a great breeding ground for yeast rashes. I would suggest going with wool covers! I love my WOOL!!!!!! I will never use anything else! i have made a webpage with tones of CD info and wool info you can check it out. it also has a link to my etsy shop. http://www.niftynappybyvilate.weebly.com

Good luck!

Why bamboo cloth diapers?

Bamboo thrives naturally without using any pesticides and fertilizers and is 100% biodegradable.

Bamboo has been praised as the natural green, Eco-friendly textile material of the 21st Century. Bamboo thrives naturally without the use of pesticides.

It is a natural cellulose fiber which is converted into yarns without the addition of chemicals, and is 100% biodegradable in soil by micro- organism and sunshine, causing no pollution to the environment.

The unique make-up of the 'Bamboo' fiber, whose cross section is filled with various micro-gaps and micro-holes gives it a moisture absorption rate three times that of Cotton.

Bamboo fiber is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti static.

Its natural antibiosis function keeps bacterium away so that it won't produce bad odors.
