Boy Clothes

[deleted account] ( 8 moms have responded )

Ok, so I'm mostly just venting here. Why is it that when you go to Wal Mart, Target...ANY store that sells kid's clothing....there are TONS of racks of little girl dresses but ZERO nice clothes for boys? Take Wal Mart, for example. We were there last night looking to see if they had put out their Easter stuff yet. There were literally 6 racks of pretty spring time dresses for toddler girls. For the boys? There was ONE SIDE of a 4 sided rack, with 8 "sweater suits" (khaki pants, blue shirt and sweater vest). Of the 8 suits they had, NONE of them were over 6-9 month size. The woman told us to go look in the little boy's section. The smallest they had there was a 4...not a 4T....a size 4. It sucks big time because our boys are only little once. We get ONE SHOT in a small period of time where we get to dress them up and make them look cute as a button.....but they don't give us many choices. At any given time of year it's like this at pretty much every store. The same is true for the footed onesies. Little girls? Lots of choices in many sizes. Little boys? Well my Wal Mart has NONE ZIP ZERO footed onesies for boys over 6 months. Anyone else fighting this frustration?

Also, my boyfriend and I are getting married in less than a month and we are looking for an actual SUIT (slacks, shirt, jacket and tie) for our 16 month old. Anyone know where we can find one for a reasonable price in the Central Florida area? We tried Wal Mart (ehhh) and Target. Target has a suit but the problem is the 18 month old size pants fit but for the top he needs a 24 month size and they won't let me switch. They told me the other day that I have to buy TWO suits (at $30 a pop) if I need two sizes, which is just plain stupid. GRRRRR!!! Thanks for listening lol!

I live in Canada but a great place to buy boys clothes is Superstore. As for the states try consinment stores for a suit since its the kind of thing that is really only worn once you could get one for cheap.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions!  I ended up finding a suit at JC Penney's for $19.99.  It has black slacks and black vest with a pastel blue dress shirt and tie.  To coordinate with the wedding colors, I found a website called www.zone4kids.com that has ties of all colors and shirts as well.  The ties are $5.99 + and the shirts start at about $12.99.  It's funny...while I was at JC Penney, a mom came up to me holding her 5 month old and timidly asked if I minded if she asked me a question.  She's having a hard time finding swim trunks for her little guy....I told her where I had seen some and then told her to brace herself for the coming months.....

One thing I did notice in shopping today is that I think once my son gets into the T's and out of infant clothing, it seems to get BETTER.  Still not as much selection as for little girls but it's better....

Do you have a Baby Depot at Burlington Coat Factory? They have a selection of suits for preemies on up. Also, it's a little pricey, but you can buy suits/tuxes for little boys at most tux stores as well. We did this for our wedding as my brother's 5-yr-old was our ring-bearer.

Oh, with the Baby Depot, you can order most of the stuff they have in-store online as well. Good luck with your search. :)

I completely agree! I think Target is the worst though. The girls section is HUGE there, and the boys section is limited to just a few racks! The only place that sells really cute boy clothes in my opinion is online.. littledudesonly.com They have really cute stuff. As for the suit, I dont know if you have a Burlington Coat factory where you live...but I got my sons mini tuxedo there for only $19.99. And it was a size 12 months.

I totally agree. You may want to try Carter's or Children's Place... I would also suggest J.C. Penney's or Sears - they sometimes have great sales when you can get a great deal on clothes. Kohl's is another place where they have boys clothes that are reasonable ($6 tops and bottoms).

Good luck with everything and especially wedding! :-)

I am soooo there with you! I have the same fustrations with the clothes! nothing for the boys but look out EVERYTHING for the girls!!!

my son is 21 months and he wears a bit bigger top than a bottom so you can not find a complete put together outfit to fit, it always has to be seperates. I live in Canada so I am not sure if you have these stores or not but toys "r" us usually has some good stuff and if you have to you can also (most times) even find seperates that work together. Please Mum is another store to try but they can be a little pricey at times. If all else fails try a second hand store, you can find some pretty good stuff that is still like new there and under budget. the last place I can think of is a tux/dress rental shop they usually have items to sell as well as rent. Hope I have been some help. By the congrats on the wedding! Best wishes.
