Any advice for potty train? I do a few things but I would like to know what it works for you.

I have found that reading a story that intrest the chid helps them relax and forget that their in potty training. Before you know it the child will pick up the book on their own and be potty trained without a fuss.

I am firm believer of never pushing a child until they are ready. I believe this now after I spent well over a year fighting with my first born to use the potty. I tried stickers, candies, books, games, new toys, etc. Nothing worked. One day, I said I quit. A month later he was fully trained. Once the pressure was gone and he noticed that I was no longer giving him attention (bad attention), he wanted the attention back. So he went on the potty one day and called me over to look. I said good job and that was it. No more praising than that. The next day he went a few times and I let him know that I was very proud of him. The more he did it, the more I praised him. When he went 2 days (incuding the night) I took him to the store and he picked out a toy. I wish I would have given up a lot sooner ;) So my advice.....Don't pressure.
