A new mum to debating moms wants to know. Is this a debating site or a question on site.

Sally, I hope you are enjoying DM for the most part. But to clarify, arguing is different than debating. Debating is more of a "here are the facts and why I do it" kind of a thing, and arguing tends to get more personal, which can lead to attacks, name calling, and verbal abuse. This is not the conduct we allow in DM, and against T.H.U.M.P.S regulations that are set in place by CoM.



This is INDEED a debating community, which can get heated on hot button topics.....so indeed occasionally the debate DOES turn into an argument. Many women here are extremely passionate about their beliefs, and supply a compelling argument. Definitely true debates can encourage you to open your mind and even change your stance on certain views.



Many people in this community have become close friends, so we definitely debate, but we are all comfortable enough to share personal stories, and discuss issues that are not debates. But as discussed in a previous thread, we label those topics as "not a debate" along with the topic. Please enjoy your time here, and if you have any further questions or concerns that are not answered, always contact the Admin, or the Moderators. ~Mod Little Miss~

I've learnt so much about so many different topics, and also just learnt about the differnet way that people approach issues. It's great, and very addictive!



There are some old favorite debates that come up over and over again - you probably get excited about them the first couple of times then you start to avoid them.

Exactly it's good to debate issues and it helps keep you informed and have things to think about. Even if there's fights and crazy shit happens it's still fun.

emma, thats what i thought and why i joined. i get little chance to talk and discuss things with other people. I thought this community would get the old grey matter working again.lol

It's the internet, such a diverse group of women from different countries, religions and backgrounds. Some people feel so passionately about certain subjects that the do get a little upset at times. There are thousands of different communities on CoM so you just have to find the ones that you feel comfortable in.

@nikka. I like it here but i do get confused. I also feel strongly about certain things and i except that people have their view but i don't understand why if some posts and then gets upset if you don't agree. I have said im new and because i wasn't sure where was the best place to post a question, i ask a mod. They were really helpful. So yes i know what mods do.

There are rules, no personal attacks etc and the Admins and Mods are here to ensure everyone plays nice. Yes it is debating mums however a lot of the ladies on here are passionate about some of the debates, so personal views and experiences do play a part. If you don't like it then you don't have to read it but there are a lot of fabulous women in this community who are not only informative but fun and friendly as well.
