A baby died Thursday after being left in the back of a hot pickup truck for much of the day, Sugar Land authorities said.
The father of the 7-month-old dropped his older children off at school Thursday morning, then drove to a business conference along the Northwest Freeway and the North Loop West, officials said.
All the while, the baby was in the truck, officials said.
About 3:45 p.m., he returned to the family home in the 14000 block of Mary Sue Court in Sugar Land.
His wife later called, asking about their children. He ran outside and found the baby still inside the pickup, authorities said.
Sugar Land police launched an investigation into the unattended death.
By late Thursday, charges had not been filed in the case, officials said.
No further information is currently available.

Sad :( Very tragic, but it just goes to show you how busy we make our lives. There was a story years ago about a mother who did the same thing. She was running late for work, forgot to drop her baby off at daycare and left her in a hot car to die. Who's to blame? The parents or society?
