This is why I like reading your posts Jeanette - you present yourself in such a way that makes me want to read what you say. You have a back bone! You have conviction and you have the intelligence behind your convictions. There are too many people who don't even bother with an intelligent, respectful reply to anything - the simplest of questions they don't have a straight forward, real, answer that has any support (fact) beyond their own 'opinion'.



For the most part - I have no reply to your, or anyone's, questions - because I don't follow the political scene enough to voice anything other than my own general opinion on the WHOLE situation. I can't speak for anyone else but I can say that there's been just as much BS on either side. And just as the people who don't agree with him question everything the people who agree with him - the people who do agree with him have the right to question everything the people who don't agree with him. (Ok that REALLY doesn't look right but I hope you get what I mean LOL)



And I think it is intelligent to question ANY person who is in a powerful position - but there is a difference between questioning, and outright making shit up, twisting things around and simply hating for the sake of hating because it's not how 'you would do it.'

I think there are a lot of people who 'make up' reasons not to like this guy because they just don't want to have to agree with someone they are taught from birth to dislike. Case in point - racists, the KKK, white supremists - I know a couple people who are white supremists and they DO make shit up, everytime they open their mouths and pawn it off as a reason to dislike Obama. They have no base for their hatred of him except - "he's a n****r."



I don't talk to that pathetic worm since he said that, but no word of a lie - that is his reason for disagreeing with Obama. It's sad and unfortunate because as much as Bush was a weiner and as much as Clinton was a weiner and as much as Obama is a weiner - they were/are all doing what they have to do - be politicians.



I'm goin to bed now lol I'm tired - I think I might stick to the other non-political (hopefully) debates for awhile because all of the political talk is starting to make me wonder if I should start a Countdown to Doomsday ... where there's a spontaneous combustion extraveganza where everyone arguing gets so heated the whole of the earth just blows up LOL

For the record, I think that town hall meetings were a great idea...I've never seen a government be so accountable to their people...if this is Obama's idea, good for him! It's not his fault a few crazy right wing lunatics showed up and made everybody (on the right) look bad.

Okay Jo, I am rereading the original starter for this conversation by Evelyn.  I don't think she is attacking me.  I have had this question asked in another space and I am thinking, seriously, do you (not Evelyn the other inquirer) really think I just started paying attention? 

I respect that President Obama is our president, our leader, even if I didn't vote for him.

I do see where she states that she knows there are people who genuinely disagree...I guess where I got my knee jerk reaction was with the "but don't you have to be informed to be able to come to that decision?"  My response was based on that knee jerk reaction, it probably was overkill, but damn I feel like it is about race even when it isn't!

I feel like President Obama helped race relations.  I did not vote for him, that doesn't mean I cannot see the benefit!  I believe that when a black/asian/latino american parent(s) tells their child "you are going to be our next President" that  the child should KNOW it to be possible.  I support and defend that with every essence of my being.  I happen to be crazy in love with a bi-racial little boy, and sincerely believe my children (at least 2) will marry outside of their race based on their dating habits.  So, I HOPE Obama has helped race relations. 

I would like to repoint out though, Obama came up with the town hall meetings idea during his campaign.  He also suggested the use of technology in communicating with the people en mass.  I think he was clever for suggesting these things because it does show he is interested in our input at the very least. 

However, he is our President, and like EVERY President before him, he will be questioned, hated, booed, whatever...and it won't be all because he's black.

I think that playing the race card shows a level of insecurity and cowardice. I will turn it around for you, so you can plainly see my point:

I think you Evelyn voted for Obama just because he is bi-racial. I don't think you were aware of his platform, nor do I think you listened to any of his speeches or debates. I think because he looks a lot like you, you don't care what he stands for, what his goals for this country are, because now you feel a kinship a connection. The consequences are null and void to you because it is what you FEEL that drives you. I think you completely agree with Obama now for the exact same reasons I just gave for you voting for him.

Corrine - I called you a plagairist. Perhaps you aren't aware, but that is not an insult, like the one you threw at the rest of us. It means you take someone else's words and pass them off as your own. Just so you know, that's generally considered bad form, and if you actually are in college, I'd suggest not trying it in your classes.

I'm glad you had a good laugh about our posts. I have to say though, that I found yours disturbing, not funny. But I'm still confused about what you were trying to add to the discussion. In your first post, you said "I dislike Obama, but not because he is black." (Well, you didn't really say it, but you said you agree...) Then later you write that, "i think an ape has no right to be in the white house" and " its a WHITE house not a black house." So does that mean you do dislike him because he is black, or not?

I have no issue with anyone who can clearly, intelligently and maturely put forth their reasons. You can not.

College educated? Doubtful.

Your house? Bet it's a back woods shack somewhere in your great state of Texas.

Everything else? Probably spend more on yourself than you do your kids. Everyone knows military personel don't get paid the greatest.
