Constantly striving to live a faultless life increases your risk of a very imperfect outcome—early death. Experts specializing in perfectionism recently convened at an Association for Psychological Science Convention in Boston to present research looking at perfectionism and its effects on health, ranging from loss of self-esteem and resilience to increased stress and risks of death.

How believable is this?

I don't believe anyone is perfect and I can only imagine how much stress people are under who try to put up the front of perfection.

I believe it. Luckily I'm not perfect. In fact I'm a total screw up sometimes!! Long live me! :)

She'll probably have one, very perfect child. She practically raised her 3 younger siblings, and cares for her 2 nieces and 1 nephew fairly often so she's not ignorant as to how chaotic children can make life. But that's still not the same has having one yourself!

Oh yes, the kids will cause chaos in her life if she ever has them.

For some people, being imperfect is a source of stress. I have a good friend that has perfect hair, makeup, clothes, cleaned out car, clean house, clothes arranged by color in the closet, etc. Something out of place causes anxiety. Of course, she doesn't have kids yet.

Totally believable. Putting yourself under undue pressure to be perfect creates stress. ... a lot of it. Stress can contribute to things like poor diet, high blood pressure, insomnia, etc ...

Well all die, but excessive stress makes you die sooner!

Woohoo...I'm gonna live forever.

I'm anything but perfect and don't even try to pretend to be. I can see how being a perfectionist could be very stressful so I'd have to say it's believable.
