Black Friday Shopping Weekend

What a weekend it was. We left shortly after lunch on Friday(no need to be one those people standing in line at 3 am to get things that probably won't even be there, store limits and what not) so we left shortly after lunch time and arrived around 4. No problems or hassle crossing the border at all and no line ups either. We thought we would be stuck at the border for hours before we got to cross, but only 10 minutes. We shopped that evening and then again all day Saturday, until 8pm, and then again on Sunday morning prior to heading home. Couldn't believe the deals we got and how much we bought. I thought we wouldn't be able to get everything in the car, but we did. So worth the trip this weekend. I did miss my boys, and husband, but was able to have a good time. Something I would do every year! And on the plus side of it all, when we were heaidng home and at the border the lady asked the usual stuff, and then asked how much we spent...well I claimed to have spent $440, and in reality it was like 1400. She told us to have a safe trip home! Couldn't believe it...no duty for me to pay, but cars in front of us and to the sides of us got pulled to the side...good thing we didn't!!! So for us as Canadians sometimes its worth the drive to the states. So how many of you went across the border and did you find it worth your while???

Not sure if you really wanted a response from me or not but here goes!



We piled into the car Thursday night and arrived at our shopping destination (Buffalo) at 9:30pm waited in line up for the 1st store to open up at 10pm, then the outlet mall opened up at 11pm. The biggest line-up I saw was at Coach it looked to be about 2hour wait. We hit tons of stores for the huge doorbuster sales. I think our longest line wait time was about 25 minutes. We shopped all night long, then all Friday (Target, Kohl's 2 malls) and crashed about 6pm Friday night and headed out shopping again Saturday. Finally got to hit Coach and OMG bought a purse reg $800 for $125 and a wallet for $35 reg $175. Another great deal was the DC shoes I sent you a text about Friday afternoon, ended up paying $25 a pair (I was told they are about $100 canadian??). My grand shopping total was over $2000.00, claimed $680 and paid $26 duty. There was absolutely no way we would get away without paying duty seeing as I couldn't see out the back window of my van, and spilling into the front seat. Can't forget the bottles hidden in the stow away seats....

Very productive shopping weekend, and I only have 4 gift cards left to pick up and then it will be time to start wrapping..Phew I am tired again from just thinking about all the shopping again. Definately a yearly event, hotel room is already booked!!!
