I'm out of books. I've read them all. I need suggestions. (don't say twilight or potter(head)
I like medeival settings, I'm partial to Celts, Saxons, Vikings etc. I like 'Historical Fiction'.
I read a lot of Diana Paxson, Juliet Marillier and Marion Zimmer Bradley.

Any suggestions from ANYONE of what I can order from Amazon next?

....thanks!
=)

My absolute favorite book is Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. I really enjoy any of his books and have read most. Many of them involve the world wars and are great reads!

I just read Duma Key by Stephen King. I think it's my favorite one yet and I've read them all.

Do you really read by candlelight? That sounds really nice. I'd likely burn the house down. I just finished the Shack as well. Very interesting for sure. . . but worth the read, I think. The book I am most fond of is Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. It's philosophical but one of the best books i've ever read. And it's a long book so it should keep you busy. You know how we all love to B#tch about corporate america? Welll, this is a look at what would happen if all the Large corporations (I mean the big boys, steel manuf., railroads etc) suddenly were no more. What would the middle class guy do. What would it be like if the one thing we love to complain about was no more. Well, Ayn Rand tells it much better than I ever could . . . if you check it out (with your new library card : ) ) let me know what you think. And check out: Betterworldbooks.com - - -used books home delivered for dirt cheap!! Takes awhile to get them though. . .

Well, I just finished 'The Witchfinder' by James Morrow....took me forever to get through it because it pretty much sucked.... I started 'The First Man in Rome" ~ Colleen McCullough (remember "The Thorn Birds"?) and "the Far Pavillions" - author escapes me right now - they were just sitting in a box of books....and the Drowning Tree - Carol Goodman, I think... My mom made me read 'The Shack" recently - interesting book....and I'm waiting for MZB's new Avalon book to come out this fall as well as Juliet marillier's new Sevenwaters (already pre-ordered and paid for-yay Amazon)....I'm at the point where I'm looking at my bookshelf and the list of 'to be read' has dwindled to reading those Sidney Sheldon books that have been sitting there forever, and the Stephn King books that I 'haven't read in a few years..."

...Maybe I should just break down and go get a library card.

(oh, if you wonder how I have time for all these books....I read in bed by candlelight after everyone else falls asleep. Hell, I was up 'till 3:30 am this morning, just trying to find a book I could 'get into".)

Not medieval, but two historical detective novels I really enjoyed were both by Caleb Carr: The Alienist & Angel of Darkness.

Have you ever read Diana Gabaldon? She wrote this totally awesome series about a woman who goes back in time in Scotland. It is a totally groovy series that I would reccomend to anyone and if you like Marion Zimmer Bradley I think you would like it as well. They are the Outlander Series. Freakin Rock, Dude. Tellin ya

I am currently reading the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. It is about a vampire warrior 'king' who is set on protecting his species when he inadvertently falls in love with a 1/2 human 1/2 vampire-to-be. Very erotic, adult, and lustful at times ;-) 'Dark Lover' is the 1st book in the series and I read through a lot of Amazon reviews on it.

Another option for a good silly fun book series is the 'Stephanie Plum' series by Janet Evanovich. It is about a typical Jersey Girl turned bounty hunter who is bad at her job but always lucky. Lots of humor surrounding the mystery. I just love these books, but I am partial as a former 'Jersey Girl'.

Have you read "Pillars of the Earth" or "World Without End" by Ken Follet? Both very good, and set in Medeival times.

Have you read Jean M Auels Earths Children books?

...they are set in, like, early man times.

I like most Sara Douglass books and J.V. Jones is pretty good in my opinion.
