What brand seat do you use? Where in the seat is it positioned? Is your infant still rear-facing?Toddlers forward-facing? Big kids in boosters?
When Matthew was an infant, I used a Graco infant seat, rear-facing of course. He stayed rear-facing for 13 months and it was in the middle position in the back seat.
When I bought his new forward facing seat, it was the Evenflo Triumph that went up to 40 pounds. Still in the middle position and used it 2 months shy of his 3rd birthday. He was about 36-37 pounds, but very tall and his head was at the top slot.
Then bought his final car/booster-the Apex 65. (Half the price of Britax-and I needed 2 of them) This has the 5-point internal harness that is 'supposed' to keep him buckled until 65 pounds. But at 42 pounds now, 4 years old, the harness is getting snug. I'm hoping to get at least another 6 months out of the harness. But then I can easily slip the seat belt through to restrain him. This is our permanant car seat, and it is installed to the far right in both cars, behind the passenger seat. We also have a regular Graco full-back booster that we can take anywhere when he rides in some one else's vehicle. He's about 43-44 inches now.
