Yeah there is a really nice hotel attached but even then I don't see even taking my child there. If I want to stay at a hotel it would not be one with a casino attached to it if our son was with us. We have stayed at the hotel a few times but it's been for our anniversary, birthday's and our son is with grandma. I just don't get it I guess.



Edit to add: I guess I could see Vegas as an exception when our son is older but not now.

I actually have taken my son to the restaurant in the casino where we live. The casino itself is smoking, but the restaurants are actually separate..even though it's the same building. So, we aren't taking him around smoke. These restaurants are more upscale and cleaner than regular restaurants.



He's had bad allergies and asthmatic symptoms since he was small. We've always been careful to choose where we go. He's never had a problem there. Other restaurants have posed a problem for us before though.



@Becky~Native reserves are considered sovereign, with very limited restrictions. They have their own leaders and their own laws. That is the way it was set up by the government because so much of their lands were taken from them. They are not technically part of the US; they are separate entities.

I'm going to Vegas in September, without children, but will be avoiding the casinos because I'll be 5 months pregnant. I'm hoping the whole hotel isn't smokey!

The only casino here that is smoking is the one on the Native reserve (though why they are exempt from the law is beyond me.) We won't go there simply for that reason - even without the kids. Otherwise, they're all non-smoking, so I have no problem taking my kids to the restaurants. But no, I won't take them anywhere that is filled with smoke. Fortunately, that's really not an issue here anymore!

My husband and I were married in Vegas, 3 days after my daughter turned 1. We didn't stay in a big-named hotel/casino, we stayed in the Hilton, which did have a casino, but wasn't so crowded and full of smoke. I love Vegas, though, and we plan on going on a family trip there next year (my parents love it and want to fly and meet us there). We'll probably stay at the Hilton again, but do plan on seeing some other ones, like the Paris which I love. People seem to be pretty respectful not to smoke in the walkways and stick to the casino floor, which I do not go into unless I'm child-free for the moment, or absolutely have to cross. I guess we'll just walk quickly if the need arises.

I think Vegas is the exception. Families are there on vacation a lot of the time, and obviously there's a chance they'll be walking through the casinos. I know we did with Roxanne and ya, the smoke was disgusting, even for me, and I'm an on again, off again smoker. GROSS!

I was i nVegas last week and every casino had kids/families walking through them. The casinos make money off of parents as well with really nice arcades and kid-friendly restaurants. Some of them offer babysitting per hour serivces too in the arcades. I am personally NOT a fan of exposing my child to all that smoke either. But I have to say that this time aroudn in Vegas, there was less smoke on the casino floors! But still, if I absolutley HAD to walk through the casino floor with my child, I'd do it very quickly to limit the exposure.

Ya, I agree -- it's odd. Is there a hotel attached to the casino like the situation I described? I know the casino I used to go to once in a while was attached to a luxury hotel, so if guests were staying there, you'd often see them downstairs at the restaurant with their children.

Otherwise, ya.....it's ridiculous. Not sure what other reason someone could have for having their kids at a casino?

Casino's are the only places in Washington that you're able to smoke. That's why I don't get it. Out of all the places to eat people still choose the smoke filled casinos.

I probably wouldn't take Roxanne to a casino, UNLESS we were staying at the hotel attached to the casino. Besides that, it's irrelevant in Canada (or at least where I live) because smoking has been banned from casinos.
