Oh definitely, that's why I try to handle these debates with kids' gloves. Most people don't want their parenting methods challenged or questioned. It hurts on both sides of the debate. Some people just don't know how to handle it with tact.

I made a comment about the responses and I do not believe in spanking but as I read I thought about the mor intellegent answers in regards to spanking. I can see the point some were making and even though I still won't do it I can see both sides.
I too have a problem with the comments about kids who aren't spanked. I think thats what made me more angry.

I don't agree with spanking, for my kids. I may even argue the demerits of spanking in a debate. I'm not going to be so brash to think a parent who spanks as a last resort is any better or worse at disciplining their child than me. But what makes my blood boil is ignorant comments that imply I'm not disciplining my kids and letting them run a muck just because I have alternate disciplinary measures to spanking. As though spanking is the ONLY right way to discipline. It goes both ways though, anti spankers telling spankers that there way is the only way to discipline. Some old debate.
I'm not so niave to think my method of discipline is for every parent. It's not. Some parents will fair better with spanking as a last resort than they would with my positive discipline methods and vice versa.

Oh boy, a spanking thread. :S I think i've had my fill of those lately! I will give it a read though, but I think i'll just sit on the side lines on this one. ;)

The links not working but its the second article on the page that has me pulling my hair out.
I didn't want to mention the topic because its like beating a dead horse. Its some of the comments that make me go "hmmmm".
I guess I just don't get it.
