I've thought about this and been reading the thread, I have no idea who my opposite would be really.



I am a SAHM to 4 kids as well as 2 dogs, 3 cats and 1 husband.

They (the kids, sometimes the animals when my husband is on nights) all still sleep with us at different times. Our 3 year old the most right now (she's in our bed at least 3 times a week.) We don't spank.

We're busy. Sunday-Thursday there are activities that kids need to be driven too. Monday-Thursday is pre-k for the 3 year old. Monday -Friday is school for the oldest two. My husband works shift work, so more than likely you will be doing most of this on your own. **added note: Some Fridays and Saturdays do have activities. Meets, competitions, camp, etc. Depends on the season and what the activities have planned. Fridays we need to be up early as our oldest has track practice and needs to be to school an hour early for that.

I clean the house, do (and keep track of) the family schedule and take care of the finances.

We eat supper between 5-6 (depends on the day and what time which activity starts when).

Our youngest has decided in the last 2 weeks she no longer wants to nap, so now there is no afternoon quiet time for me. Awesome. She's 22 months.

Can't forget the animals! They need to be taken out each day. The oldest cat is the only one allowed outside. If the smaller two get out you have to get them and bring them back inside. They've only just turned 6 months and are not fixed yet.

OH and I'm packing. We're moving at the end of the month. I'll swap with anyone, if only someone will come pack. God I'm so sick of packing. =/

It's humid here now. It is so nice and i can't wait until i go to bed tonight because i might actually get some sleep. No storm for us but it rained for nearly an hour. :D

If you'd have a 2 1/2 year old girl, I'd love to spend some time in the sun with kids who do their own wash. But I don't know if we exactly qualify as opposites, aside from hemispheres and seasons.

Anyone up for 2 boys going through puberty and a 5 year old girl who is going on 15? HAHAHAHA. I'll take on a toddler again ANY time :D



Although there ARE advantages. The boys can use the washing machine, hang and bring in washing, fold the washing and put it away, they vaccuum, take care of the dishwasher, do their own breakfast (and lunches on days they are home), dust, make beds, and various other chores.

Okay, I've been away for a few days, but this looks like too much fun to pass up!

Any of you ladies that are Atheist/Agnostic would be on my list of opposites, though I have a lot in common with some of you. I'm natural (or try to be) because I believe that we should be good stewards of the earth God has given us. So we *try* to eat organic whole foods, *try* to grow our food, waste little, breastfeed, cloth diaper (with baby 2). So I'd swap a Christian that didn't do those things. I stay home with my babies and love being a wife. Traditional gender roles don't bother me.

So I'd need...

working/ single mom
non-earth conscience

I'm pretty much middle of the road on everything else.

AHHHHHH!!!! Damn...she is a WOMEN! HEAR HER ROAR!!! Or just yelling really loud becouse trying to squeeze a kid out THAT bigs GOTTA hurt!

I never would have thought we would be so opposite...but I will take it! If you noticed that was one of the first things I said...I want to go to Australia. I have wanted to since I was young....booking tickets now! ;)

PS..you will fall in LOVE with my cat Pixie Lee Bean.,...she has tourettes, she is allergic to cats (just a joke), and doesn't really know she is one. She is a little special in the head.

I've given this some thought, and although she's not even close to my opposite, I want to swap with Erin.

My ice-covered sidewalks are making her heat wave more appealing, but the real reason is this.....SHE IS SINGLE!!!!!!!!!

A week or so in Australia, near the beach, without my own or anyone else's spouse is beyond appealing!!!!!!!!!!!!

Admittedly, she would be getting the shitty end of the stick; Molly talks as much as Milla, and those girls both have entirely too much attitude. She'd have to deal with John, AND both of my dogs. Then, she would come home to find that I'd ruined her dog, who would have gotten used to sleeping in a bed with me!

But...a girl can dream!

lol @ marina you think two is a lot. My mom had 4 with my dad, divorced, had 2 more with her new husband, he had 4 kids so they all moved in. All together that makes 10 who lived with us. My dad had more kids that i don't talk to, i think 3, maybe 4 not sure..

I would have to swap with someone who has no idea what it is like to sit on the highways and byways of Johannesburg at 7.00 am in the morning in order to get the kids to school on time which is at 7.45am. Who doesn't have to fight with people who think they know everything but know very little. Who doesn't have to run the guantlet of beggers and window washers and hawkers at every robot (traffic light in the US) Who doesn't have work all day, come home make sure the homework is done, the cooking need to be done.Who's weekends are not taken up with Church choirs, school projects, Scrap classes, renovating, painting, sewing, singing for Weddings or Funerals or cooking . Who's evenings are just relaxing and not taken up by hobbies, husbands, children and family. Actually I would love to swap with someone in the country somewhere, No I don't mind the hard work either!.



I would teach children the joy of music, cooking, reading. Love for general knowledge and how to play fair by imposing game nights with no TV. Take the family to theaters and museums. And cultural activities.

Jenn, you might like to trade with me for a week! While I could use being in the middle of nowhere without a vehicle to curb my shopping enthusiasm you might like to see what city life is like and the fun things it has to offer like the theatre, museums, tourist attractions like the Space Needle and if you were into Nirvana I live right down the road from his old house, where he died.



I just want to clarify that when I say 'shopping' i don't mean i go buy a Louis Vuitton bag every week. I am just a hyperactive person who has a hard time sitting still at times, unlike the past week I've been at home and on CoM non stop bc I had surgery lol. I'm a bargain shopper and buy alot of stuff on clearance and put it away for when we need it, like after Christmas sales I get clothes that will fit the kids next year so instead of spending $15 on a holiday shirt I spend $2. Same with toys and decorations. And I thrift store and Craigslist shop, too.



The kids and I also go to the craft stores alot and make fun projects. They love it.

I have a 5 year old son and 2 year old twin daughters.

I don't spank.

My house stays pretty clean.

We have no pets.

I do stick to a schedule (bed time at same time every night, we do the same things daily)

We don't eat out or get fast food.

Most of the time I have no access to a vehicle and I live in the middle of nowhere, so we don't go out often.

I'm a SAHM.

You poor thing! I feel so sorry for you! It was 14 degrees below zero Farenheit where I live a few weeks ago. 32 degrees above zero is freezing so you can just imagine how rechidly cold it was. But that would probably be a welcomed change of pace for you right now! Come on over girls, I have a few spare bedrooms, plenty of food and anything & everything you could imagine for child care, plus a 3 & 4 year old to keep your littlins company lol. If you can get a ticket to America, you have a place to stay.

PS...My house is clean and my linens smell good! :D

I could take a vacation to the guest house and we could play 'wife swap' except your husband will sadly have to fend for himself. But I'll gladly hand over mine for a week! ; )

Erin the air con broke before Australia day and we are waiting on the part to come in. But come september we are moving out because of things that keep going wrong with the house. The only way we are coping atm is fans and lots of them. I am at the point of crying because i'm that tired.

Shannen I don't know how you are coping without a/c with this heat! Milla and I have slept in the lounge room all week because it is just too hot in the bedrooms. If I didn't have a working a/c, I would be moving out lol.

And yeah, I'd gladly swap with someone with snow at this point. Australian heat waves suck!

Healthy eating - i dont do boxed meals, i try to stay with as much natural food as possible - junk food does fall in the mix, but its not often. We are all on supplements - my hubby needs them, my children are healthier with them, (as well as myself) - im as alternative meds/options as I can be, but I am not stubborn enough to not go to the doctor when I know its necessary. I had all kids in the hospital, some good experiences some bad; i vaccinate, i circumcise. I dont co-sleep much at all - if someone wakes up scared or is sick, i will let them come into bed -- but I dont care to do the share the bed thing - becasue i cannot sleep at all when they are in bed with me. I didnt wear any of my babies - although i would have loved to - i couldn't afford a baby sling - and the snugglies suck! I never did the extended rear facing with any of my kids -- but I have baby now who will be 1 in april, and am seriously considering it now.
Oh - and honestly i can be a bitch, i have been known to throw adult tantrums, but ive also been pregnant since 2002 - poppin kids left and right - that between my hormones and periodic frustration and overwhelness, its a no wonder some days.
I think that is good...
PS with the potty training thing -- its not someting new - my grandma did that with her kids back in the 60s - she started them at 6 months - I thought about it - but i dont have that kind of patience and time -- i begin introduction to the toilet at 1, help them become aware of poop and pee; call them on their signs, and by 2 -2 1/2 they are trained.

About me: Mother of six, sahm, entrepreneur, and wife. I cook, clean, budget, and change diapers all day long. I have three in school, two full-time, one is parttime in 4K, i wanted to homeschool - but it just wasnt for me. My house is a disaster, but for having six kids, er - 7 if you want to count my husband who picks and chooses when he wants to be tidy -- the house isnt as bad as I think it is -- and Ive seen worse, with less kids. I pray a lot, my kids know how to pray, we incorporate Jesus and the Lord into a lot of lessons learned (whether it be punishments or education purposes -- and yes I spank, but its a spank to say - this is my final say on the matter --- as for 'punishment' in our faith - its more about teaching our children right from wrong, and respect of others -- I don't do the whole sin thing or you are going to hell bullshit --- I want my kids to realize why they do or dont do something - and what the consequences could be, etc.) But, if there is something there that you want me to clarify more, i will do so - i wont take up the entire post about it!.
You have to learn to love makeup - its my passion, and I have clients that you will have to care for - so at least be nice, and listen to them, and do your best to help them :)
My hubby is gone from 1:30pm til midnight - so you wont see him a whole lot either - and in the summer, he is gone all day - doing extra work. He is very much in love with me, and makes a point to let me know, and shows me all the time -- very compassionate, and loves his children like no other - he has quit smoking for them - and Im following suit. I like to go to my moms as often as possible, we drink our coffee, chat and gossip forever, and smoke our cigs - then i go home to reality... hehehehe I love to play and make believe with my kids, they are free roamers in my home with some structure - and are very very helpful with chores - they love to help mama -- and we make chores a game, so it keeps it fun for them.
I drive my gold ford expedition - which is my baby, and I pump up the music, and you will only find dance/hiphop/rap songs -- sorry! you will have to switch to the radio if you cant handle it (p.s. its censored music when my kids are in the truck - they like be-boppin in their seats - so i get the edited versions or they have kids dance music too.
I breastfed everyone, but Im a pampers user -- I like cleaning and cooking - but im the only one who does it, so it gets boring -- once in a great while my hubby will make a meal -- and my kids will help with dishes -- but its still more of my responsibility.
Ugh - now im just going on and on - and have lost train of what else goes on in my house and what i already posted...

Really though, I don't know who my polar opposite would be. Anyone who was an atheist would be pretty opposite me, I guess, although I consider myself to be a fairly open-minded Christian.

I'm neither neat nor organized. We have very little routine, aside from supper and bedtime, which, coincidentally, is when my husband is home. (guess who's the routine one in our family?)

I breastfeed, sort of cosleep, don't spank and try my best not to yell or use harsh discipline. We're not the healthiest of eaters - we don't eat all junk food, but we also don't eat as many veggies as we should. I vaccinate and take my kids for regular dr's appointments. We mostly use Pampers, although I do have some cloth diapers and use them kind of halfheartedly. I don't do CIO, I both babywear and use a stroller. I do extended rear-facing. I sort of attachment parent, but I'm certainly not extreme. My kids aren't in school yet, but I will send them to school, although I plan to homeschool Cole for at least one year of preschool, mostly for financial reasons. We go to Church every Sunday, (well, it's been a few weeks since we've been now) pray before meals, and read Bible stories and sing Jesus Loves Me. :)

Editted to add - I'm a SAHM/WAHM (I do home assessments on contract.) I don't have a lot of rules and I'm very interactive with my kids. Sometimes I feel like I should be a little more structured in my activities with them though, and not watch so much TV.

Jenn - I would love to come to New Jersey, need a switch of scenery - and I would love to switch places, Im going to say this as careful as I can - but Id be honored to take your place, to really get some understanding of taking care of a child who has extra challanges in life - I don't have that with my children, so I feel i take that for granted, it would def. be a learning experience as to the hard work YOU have to do every single day for your children - six kids may be a lot - but the care is different -- I hope you understood what I was saying there -- So, yes, Jenn, Id love to swap for the day -- and, i have to meet your SO, Id like to see how he handles your wit - you have some twisted humor for sure, I love it!! :)

I want to swap with anyone who has snow. It is 36C here right now and last night was 27C no one in our house slept. So i want snow or cold where i can get a decent nights sleep.
Other than that i have no idea who my polar opposite is.
I love the idea of extended BF but due to the extreem heat we have had and our air con being broken him having a low grade temp i have had to stop and i'm upset about it. I didn't want to i enjoy our time.

Well, we do use diapers. Misses happen. And we have carpets :). But it's about becoming close to your child, paying attention to what they're saying to you when they can't speak, knowing their body and helping them know their body as well. There's no forcing, no coercion and no expectations.

When my daughter was younger and was still happy being in a carrier 24/7 I was able to catch most of her subtle signals that she needed to go. When not in-arms I rely on timing and now that she's 2 1/2 it's pretty easy.
