Melissa, you're not alone! I can't stand seeing boogers in my son's nose (or anyone's, for that matter). But I can pick my son's nose, so I do. (Just clarifying, even if I could pick someone else's nose other than my own child, I wouldn't.. *shudder* so gross..)

Wow! Reading through this, I realize I do a lot of these things....I just never realized they were considered weird :P



In addition to my earlier note...

I cannot sleep in socks either, and I HATE to wear shoes in the house. I don't like others to wear shoes in my house either, and if I know the person well enough, I usually take my shoes off by the door. I hate the thought of tracking in all that dirt and nastiness.



I also fold my towels the dame and stack them in a certain order, and all the same direction...looks better.



I will fix a crooked frame if I see it...even at someone's house, I will politely say, "Oh, someone must have bumped this frame. Let me fix it for you, mine are always getting bumped by my husband's wide shoulders..."



Oh, and I can't sleep in a place without an alarm system. My husband hates that quirk when booking our hotels, but I'm weirdly paranoid that someone will steal my child while I sleep, or just come in and watch me sleep....maybe it's the fear of not being aware, I don't know. That is the only one I find actually "irrational"

I close all the doors at night when I go sleep. I can't sleep properly if a door is open. I even sense if they're open and my husband hasn't shut it behind him.

When I stand one of my heels has to always go up. It's goes up by itself and I don't even know.

When I concentrate I block everything out. One time at work I was busy reading a magazine at check out and my friend threw a soft plush ball at my back and I didn't feel it. He got grossed out that I didn't even feel it hehehe.

When I walk in a shopping mall I look straight and I don't notice the people around me. I got my invisible blinders on. I've walked past family and friends who have chase me down...asking why didn't I see them.

When I sleep I don't move me. My family can vouch for me. It's true when I sleep I stay in that position until I get up.

I cant stand when anything other than clean clothes or sheets are put on the bed..ie bags, ect..drives be crazy. I think it is gross!
I dont like when people wear shoes in my house...especially if I just steam mopped.
I Hate when my husnad taps his fingers on something like to the beat of music or just as a nervuos thing...I get the twitches..lol!
I too cant sleep cuddleing...if my husband even puts his hand on me it bothers me...He is 6'5" and I am only 4'11" so I feel like Im being crushed! LOL! Poor guy!
Oh and is this bad....I constantly have to cut my babies fingure nails...he is always scratching himself but I think I have become obsessive about it! I also cant stand if he has a "buggy" I have to get it out! Is that bad?

I am a highly sensitive person that has to really watch what is on TV. Stories of orphaned babies, animals eating other animals or any other difficult to stomach news story/TV shows I avoid.

My bed sheets have to be perfect in order for me to sleep.

I count a lot of things but it has to be in either 4's or 7's. Like if I'm walking it goes: space, crack, space, crack, space, crack, space - so there are 7 steps and it has to be exactly like that.

If I say a word like "click" and the ending "ck" sound isn't satisfactory then I will silently make the sound to myself several times. "ck, ck, ck"

If i get a high 5 and it doesn't make full hand contact I have to do it again until it feels right.

My towels have to be folded a certain way and if someone else does it differently I will refold them. I like to make the towel cupboard look like a store display.

I'm sure I have other things but those are some of the craziest ones LOL!

Umm.. Let's see. I know I have more..

I have to fold my towels a certain way. I fold them in half lengthwise, fold them in half widthwise then fold them in half again lengthwise. And they have to be stacked neatly w/ the embroidery facing up. When I put them in the linen closet, the open ends CANNOT be to the front, they have to be to the back. And I have to have bigger towels on the bottom, smaller on top. Cannot stack hand towels or wash cloths on bath towels or wash cloths on hand towels. They all have their separate piles.

When I get into bed, I first lay on my left side but when I'm almost asleep, I switch to my right side.

I can't stand messy drawers. Whether it's dresser drawers, bathroom drawers or kitchen drawers, I CANNOT stand a messy drawer.

When I wash my laundry, it has to go in order. Turn the water on, put the detergent in, swish it around w/ the agitator to mix the detergent and the water a few times (otherwise I feel like the clothes weren't washed evenly). Put the clothes in and then the Downy ball on top. (And at my mom's house, she had a fabric softener dispenser in the agitator, so after putting the detergent in and before throwing laundry in there, I would put the softener in).

Can't remember if I already posted this one.. But I have to scrub the dishes with soap and water before putting them in the dishwasher. Otherwise there will be fingerprints and food stuck on them and I cannot stand that!

I HAVE to wash my hands RIGHT BEFORE emptying the dishwasher so no fingerprints get on the dishes (especially the glasses). Even if I've just gone to the bathroom and washed my hands, I'll wash them as soon as I reach the kitchen sink and THEN I'll empty the dishwasher. This one annoys my husband b/c I make him do it, too. I just can't stand fingerprints on clean dishes.

Clean clothes CANNOT touch the floor. If they fall on the floor on the way to the couch (where I fold the laundry), they go right back to the dirty clothes pile to be washed again.

I know I have more, but I want to finish my lima beans :)

My great grandmother on my father’s side was Black Feet (Native American) My hubby knows this so he will teasingly call me Black Feet Lady (Cuz in summer they have been close from being barefoot most of the day)…LOL

I can't ever go braless even if I wanted to after three kids I went from a C Cup to a Double D so needless to say unless I want to drag them on the ground my bra NEVER EVER comes off unless showering of course. LOL!!

I hate having anything on my feet except when I am sleeping, but only then just the blanket. If I could wear flip flops all year or go barefoot I would.

When I'm in the passenger seat riding down a road with dash lines in the middle I always tap my left toes first for the beginning of the dash then my right toes for the end.

I check my purse 5 times before leaving the house.....everytime.

After going to bed I will get back up to make sure that the doors are locked. After asking my husband if we have locked them. I will sometimes ask him after I have checked too.

I have the same thing about if one of my hands gets wet I HAVE to wet the other so I can dry them together. It feels weird to only dry one.

I'm sure there is more......we are all messed up aren't we!?! So funny!! I love this thread, very entertaining.

I get bored when I drive sometimes and count the dashes on the middle of the road or cluck my tongue in between each one. I have to wash in the same order in the shower or I forget what I've washed and what I haven't. I have to shave my legs every time I shower. I hate the feeling of hair on my legs. Ugh. I absolutely cannot stand pictures hanging even the slightest bit crooked, and I can't stand it when my kids have food on their faces. Drool, juice moustache, what have you, it drives me NUTS!

I can't have my food touch, I can't eat M&M's without dumping out the bag and separating them by colors eating the smallest amount first and on up, this goes for anything with multiple colors skittles, Froot Loops, etc. Driving down the highway I have to count every mile marker on the side.

@ Kati & Ebony ~ about the shoes.....Never in my life have my feet been covered as much as they have been since moving to NY. In Florida, I was constantly barefoot or flip flopped. I had to donate several pair of flip flops when we moved up here because I knew I wouldn't be needing them :( I MISS MY FLIP FLOPS!!!!

And Kati, I'm sooooo on the same page as you when it comes to bras. I hate them and can never find any that are comfortable. Honestly, the only bra in my life I've ever owned that was super comfy was the nursing bra I bought when I was pregnant. I still wear it lol My boobs never went back down after Jacob was born so the bra still fits but I still hardly wear a bra unless I have company or I'm going somewhere. And since it's winter, a few times I've just put my heavy coat over whatever I'm wearing and gone braless in public lol It's not like anyone knows....well, except for all of you now lol

Wow i thought i was the only one with the whole can't sleep when someone is trying to cuddle me. Now i feel sort of normal. i HATE it when my hubby tries to cuddle and i also can't share blankets.
I get funny when hubby has a sleep in and he is sleeping on my pillows because he folds pillows and sweats like there is no tomorrow.
I am missing sleeping with a fan atm but i can't sleep with one on because i can't hear my baby of a night with it on.

Oh geez. Off the top of my head..

My eating habits. I don't take bites of different foods, I eat each pile in order by which will suck most if it gets cold. Finish that move on to the next.

When eating sandwiches, or just about any handheld square or round thing, I eat the outside first.

When eating pickles I bite off one end and suck out the innards, I may or may not eat the skin. Depends on my mood.

I prefer being barefoot also.

I do dishes in order of preference. I don't mind washing the plates and bowls, so they go first. Then glasses. Then pans. And when have a tendency to run out of silverware because I get bored before I get to that, the least favorite. That may change when this stupid dishwasher finally gets hooked up, though I am afraid I won't find it to be as good of a dishwasher as I am.

I also sleep on the right side of the bed. I can't sleep anywhere that is not a normal place of sleep for me- the couch, or the bed. If I were stranded for a week in an airport due to a blizzard I would not sleep. I can not sleep in class, cars, planes, etc. It HAS to be a bed, and if it's just a bed but not MY bed I won't be sleeping for a while.

I also can't sleep if someone is touching me. It's not cuddle time. Get on your side.



My towels have to be folded the exact same way, so that when stacked the embroidered line flows down the pile perfectly. Shirts must be folded a certain way, the way they're folded in the store, so I can see the front of them. I hate the way my boyfriend folds things.

I'm sure I'll think of more.

oh, i cannot stand socks, or bras. they constrict. as soon as i get in the house the socks come off and so does the bra. my husband hates it as there are bras laying around everywhere, and says he's surprised i didn't take it off in the garage, lol! i also cannot stand shoes, if i lived in a climate that i could wear sandals or be barefoot all year around i would be in heaven!

I feel almost weird for NOT having as many quirks as you ladies. I like to keep things organized, and not strewn everywhere, and I do tend to have a way that I like things to be put, but it's more just because that's the only way that things will fit in that space. For example, we have a narrow linen closet, so I like the towels folded in half lengthwise, in half again, and then in thirds, because then the towels aren't wider than the closet, and don't wind up all bunched everywhere.

And like Tara, I do need to have a cover on me in order to be able to fall asleep, even if it's just a light sheet in the heat of summer.

Other than that, I really don't think I'm very OCD about stuff. My husband may tell a different story, however.

Oh the pillow case!!!! Can't stand when someone sleeps on my pillow case.

I do that with the toilet, too, Julianne!!! Hubby doesn't and it grosses me out so bad! I am constantly on him about closing the lid BEFORE he flushes! So, so nasty..



When I do something, it has to be 'just right'. If I'm scrubbing a dish, I will scrub until there isn't even the tiniest piece of food left, I don't care if it takes me an hour.



If I'm decorating something, it can take me days. (My Christmas tree, for instance, took me 4 or 5 days after we got everything we needed! The lights weren't right. Took them down and redid them over and over until they were right- that took a whole day. The bow took a whole day to make b/c it wasn't turning out how I wanted it. Wrapping the ribbon took a whole day and the ornaments took almost 2 days, b/c I would leave the room, come back and find something I didn't like and have to rearrange them. This is the reason I hate holidays, other than that I love them).



Whatever I do on my left side, I have to do on my right side. Especially w/ working out when I can, but also when I'm cleaning. If I'm pushing the mop to the right, I'll do that about 5 minutes, then do it to the left for about 5 minutes and switch back and forth. Same with sweeping and vacuuming.



*edited to add: Yep, I do the groceries, too.. Cold things first- including meat, then boxed foods, then non-food items, then vegetables, then fragile items (like eggs, bread, chips for the hubs, tomatoes, bananas, etc)*

I require an even and consistent, edge to edge distribution of condiment on bread and buns.

Scoops of food on my plate should absolutely not touch eachother.

I change my pillow case if someone else has napped on it - the possibility of foreign breath/drool is enough to make me not want to touch it.

I'm hyper-aware of what part of the blanket/sheet has been in contact with feet - the bedding can not be moved around so that the part that came into contact with feet is now the part that is touching my head, face or hands.

I keep my organizational OCD under wraps at home, but I unleash that bad boy at work. Right angles, parallel lines, very specific slots for pens vs. highlighters; paper clips vs. butterfly clips. If someone else touches my computer, I fight the urge to disinfect my keyboard until after they've left.

I cringe whenever I see someone lick their fingers and then touch my phone or remote. I can not let my nephews play with my phone because I know they pick their noses, lick their fingers and touch their feet without washing their hands. I keep disinfectant wipes on hand for all switches, remotes, phones, handles, etc. in my house.

I can not share a beverage with anyone other than my partner - I gag if I find out someone else had a sip of my water/pop/coffee and I will dump it and get a new one.

Also, not a fan of random hugs or touching. I quit kissing all my relatives on the lips when I was a little kid and still offer a cheek whenever my aunt/grandma/mom puckers up and leans in. I only hug family or close friends, and I hold my breath so that I don't inhale any of their breath or odour. I also hold my breath when people walk past very close to me. I hate being in a full train car and sharing air with lots of people.

I sound like a harsh germaphobe, haha. I do let my boy play on the floor, chew on toys his friends just drooled on and share food with the dog - not going to hurt him. He can choose to be a spazz like me when he's older, if he wants.

I think my one true obsession is groceries. They all go in a certain order at the checkout so that they will get packed in the proper way. I don't trust the cashiers to make those sorts of important decisions. That's how you end up with bananas and bread in the same bag and then when I'm eating the now squashed bread, all I can taste is bananas. Gross.

toilet paper has to be over. even at other people's houses.



i absolutely cannot drink milk out of a plastic cup. it has to be glass. but if its cold cereal, i don't care what kind of bowl it is.



when at a party, BBQ or something similar i cannot have fruit/dessert/anything sweet on the same plate as the meal.

Just thought of another (while I was washing my hands for the 47th time today lol). If I wet one hand, I HAVE to wet the other. Like, when I brush my teeth, if toothpaste drips down onto my hand, I don't just rinse that hand off. I have to rinse them both. One hand can't be wet without the other.



I do the same thing with my towels as Julianne. Sheets, towels, dish towels...all folded a certain way (in thirds...everything in thirds) and facing the folded side out, stacked large to small. I used to color code but I have too many towels to do that anymore lol



I also will NOT own a wire hanger. It partly does have to do with Mommie Dearest but only because when I saw that scene in the movie for the first time (I was about 12), I freaked out because my mom used to do the same thing with wire hangers. Plastic hangers only for me, except for a few that I've stashed in the garage to use for random things like cleaning out the toy stuck in the vaccuum hose or breaking into our car (it happened once).



I also have a certain order that I look through the tv guide when I'm trying to find something to watch. I start at Food TV, then HGTV, then History, Discovery, Discovery 2, A&E, TNT, FX, then finally the locals ABC, NBC and CBS. I never check Fox lol I'll watch Weather Channel before I'll watch Fox lol

i need my towels folded a certian way as well liz. stacked from biggest to smallest with the fold "bump" facing outward so it looks neat. same with my sheets.

I color code my veggies on my plate, they go in order of the rainbow :P

I take my right shoe off then left. Same with pant legs, shirt sleeves etc


If i bump one side of my body i need to tap the corresponding body part. (bump left elbow, tap right elbow.)

I'm a through organizer: books are divided into style, sub-categorized by author, each author is then in alphabetical order. same goes for cds and movies.

I hate crooked picture frames on walls as well. I constantly fix them at my moms.

I do the same thing with my milk, except mines soy :P

If i forget what i am doing, i walk backwards then forwards till i remember, (not pacing, literally "retracing foot steps to pick up the lost thought)

If my milk or water goes on the door of the fridge, its not cold enough, it needs to be on the top shelf because thats where the optimum temperature is achieved.

I wont eat cold bananas, they need to be at room temperature.

Other people are not aloud to touch my food. I have a hard time going to someones house for dinner.

Before i do the dishes i need to wash the sink out, even if its clean already.

The lid of the toilet needs to be down before i flush, i don't want stinky water getting on my tooth brush or around my bathroom.

I just thought of another one. I always shake the milk before I open it. And I always smell it before I pour it, no matter what the expiration date says.

I also count stairs. If you and I go up a flight of stairs, when we get to the top if you said "How many?" I'd be able to tell you, including any landings in between lol

I have to have the toilet paper coming over the top and not hanging from the back. I used to fix it at other people's houses but learned along the way that not everyone does things the "right way" (aka "my way" lol).

I wash my hands a lot throughout the day and a therapist once had me count how many times. I don't remember how many it was but she ended up telling me I was borderline OCD because of my handwashing...never mind the fact that I worked in bars and restaurants for many years and had to get in the handwashing habit because of touching people's nasty plates and cleaning up after them constantly. Ew.

I'm really picky about my pillows in bed. I don't like ANYONE else sleeping on them. My husband sleeps during the day (works nights) and if I have to go to the bedroom for anything and I see him on my pillow it's everything in me to stop myself from taking it from under his head. I even went so far as to mark my pillows with a sharpie so there was no confusion. He sweats in his sleep and so do I, but my head sweat doesn't "stink" like his does, if that makes sense lol

I cannot sleep in socks. I have a thing about it. Seriously, I just cannot have my feet in socks when I sleep, no matter how cold it is. I will lay there and shiver for half an hour, get up and wrap my feet in a spare blanket, before I'll put on socks lol

I'm also in the club of girls who wash themselves in a specific order while in the shower. I never stray. It's the same every time. I also wash tops and bottoms of my feet and in between my toes.

And after my shower, if we don't have Q-tips OOOOOHHHH it's not good. I have to have a Q-tip after my shower or my ears feel "soggy" all day. Ew.
