Send a letter to the school saying that you are declining permission for your child to be involved in the study and will be sending a complaint to the LEA as you were not consulted prior to it's implication.

That sounds really creepy and I'd remove my kid from that school if I couldn't get a decent response.talk to the principal, general paperwork and facts on this. Sounds absolutely retarded.

Something's fishy. Why's performing the study? Who is funding it? Where's the contract regarding it? If it's a public school, the government is going to require paperwork with all the details, and that paperwork should be available to parents.



Screw contacting the school. I'd contact the district offices at this point. No child is able to participate in a study without parental consent, particularly when it requires ingesting something. The only way a school can participate in a study without parental consent is if they were asked for demographic information that has already been gathered through their normal operation, kinda like how third parties conduct consumer surveys.

I have given my daughter a water bottle totake to school.

The kids have been told that the are part of a study to measure how the new water improves their performance in school and once they start drinking the new water they are not allowed to go back to normal water or the survey will not work. This makes no sense as the kids are going to drink whatever they like for the 17 hours a day they are out of school. And they weren't told about the new water until a week after it was installed.

My daughter too. I always give her a 1ltre water bottle filled and she drinks it throughout the day in classes. Water is so important, I don't know about this "fake" water crap or whatever it is, I haven't researched it to get a better understanding. It sounds really fishy to me (just a figure of speech, I don't know if it is really fishy smelling or tasting...) ;)

I can't understand why they don't just let the kids have water bottles in class either. I mean, that makes sense. My kids have always been encouraged to have one in their class room and just sip at it as they need to.

seems odd why not let students have a water bottle in the classroom if they are worried about it! Encourage them that way! I know where i lived in Ohio when the weahter got hotter they encouragedwater bottles to be sent so they could have water and fill them up as need through the day! I know i did it at school through the day for activity days in Canada at school too!

Also, water is absorbed into cells by osmosis, which is dependent on your body's function, not any crazy chemical makeup of water.



By the way, I'm not a scientist - but this is anything you could learn in a high school science book.

Ionized water doesn't really do anything for you. Ionized water has a negative charge - that's all. Hydrogen imparts electrons, giving the water molecules a negative charge.



Your body is also normally negatively charged, as you have electrons firing through it. Taking something that is negatively charged into a container that is negatively charged does not increase absorption - simple law of physics. Negative charges are only attracted to positive charges and vice-versa.



As someone posted above, the only thing you can do to water to make it easier to absorb is to bring it to room temperature. Your body absorbs things better at room temperature because it doesn't have to work to cool them down or warm them up to a suitable degree.

I wonder if that's what my cousins were talking about... apparently in Texas it's this big fad. They charge the water to make it a different pH? Possibly? I really don't know, but they do something to it, and then you drink it and your skin glows, your hair becomes glossy, and unicorns come to take you riding over the rainbow.



Or something like that. I didn't inquire too much because my husband was all set to be skeptical and snarky, and I didn't want to hurt her feelings (she had just bought a machine to do that to their water in the house instead of buying it pre-bottled), and we were only visiting for a couple of days.

You can run hydrogen through water, but all it does is give it a negative charge, if I remember right.



Thing is, when it comes to water the term 'hydration' doesn't have anything to do with how much hydrogen you get in your body. It's just another way of saying hydro, or water.



As in, adequate amounts of water in your body that you need to survive.



Hydrogenated water won't injure you, but it's not some sort of super-liquid that you need less of. You can't make water more watery than normal water, if that makes sense.

I'm sure it's complete stupidness.



By the very nature of the makeup of water, you can't add anything to H2O without it becoming something different - like, not H2O. I also did a google search, both for 'extra hydrating water' and for 'adding hydrogen to water'.



The first came up with a couple suspect looking websites, and the second came up with methods for high school students to learn about pH levels in chemistry class. And a lot about people who want to add hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) to water for whatever reason.



Any school that recommends only drinking a minimal amount of water needs to have a health and safety inspection. Also, if they are implementing something like this, there should at least be accessible information on it from a scientific journal. I mean, at the very least there should be someone with credentials who would be able to explain it in layman's terms. We aren't talking about something that is commonly known here, this is a thing that falls into the realm of science at least.



I wouldn't trust it. Sounds fishy to me. I'd call the school officials and demand some info - if they are going to drop this on parents they need more of a justification than 'we have a contract with suchandsuch company so it needs to be filled.'

The school is telling kids that instead of drinking 8 cups of water a day they only need 1 cup of the new water to keep them healthy.



My first thought was if this water is so good why isn't it being used in deserts and drought areas.



Second thought was will this stop kids drinking enough water. I'm telling my daughter to keep drinking the old amount of normal water until we know more.
