How do you treat the wait staff? With courtesy or constant condescending demands and disrespect- because you are paying for service?
I had dinner with a dear friend and a woman that she had met in college. The woman ordered mussels and as you know, if you enjoy mussels, they are normally accompanied by a bowl with which one may use to discard the shells. This woman had shells strewn all over the table and had already been barking orders at the waiter requesting things that she insisted she ordered when she didn't, implying that he was incompetent and in general, all around making herself seem less and less like an ideal dining partner. A total a55hole to be exact. I started trying to collect shells and put them in the bowl and tried explaining the reason behind the bowl only for her to tell me, "That's his job, that is what he gets paid for. That is why I pay to dine out." And that behavior and attitude is exactly why she has probably had spit in her food on many an occasion.
