Would you ever hire a very over weight or obese babysitter? I dont mean a little pudgy I'm talking a pregnant women could pick something up off the floor quicker than them! My sister has an obese babysitter (I was way shocked when I met her) and more and more I'm hearing and seeing overly weight women saying they are "professional" nannys and babysitters! I am so shocked, how can these women think they are fit to look after someone's kids when they couldn't even lift them out of the crib after a nap, or sit on the floor and play with them. And its even worse to see them in a daycare situation. I would not feel comfortable leaving my baby with one.

How do you feel about FAT childworkers?

"What? i have never been fat in my life, thank God"

Melissa these sorts of statements are what i'm talking about. You don't like fat people you have already said you would not go near them if you didn't have to.

As for the OP... it's almost too ridiculous for me to spend my time answering it. The issue here is clearly not concern for the babysitter's mobility. Melissa, you have expressed a blatant dislike towards overweight people in general, and are now grasping at straws as to why you don't want one looking after your child. Just admit you don't want your son around a fat person and be done with it.

Melissa my 150kg neighbour can carry my 12.5 kg son who said fat people can't carry a child. I might add my neighbour has picked him up several times when we were out in the yard and my back has "locked" and im unable to bend over at all and pick him up

wtf are you talking about??? We all want what is best for our children.."fat", "thin", "old", "young". "black" "white" YOU are the only person I can recall that has a serious issue with someone's physical make-up. And if that is what works for you and yours GREAT! But don't come onto a freakin debate site and spew your judgmental beliefs and expect everyone to agree with you.

I never said anything bad about Skinny people i just said that young people might not be fast enough to keep up with children mentally. So, Melissa i'm not sure where you got that from?

Shannen in response to your post about america having the highest obesity rate in the world...your wrong Australia does. and i'm australian and i think it's sickening. I'm not fat my boobs are just big to hide my tummy...or at least thats the theory my aunt goes by the skinnier you are the smaller your boobs lol i doubt its accurate though im overweight but really i had a baby 14 months ago and spent 12 months with PND so the exercise has only just started

The question was :
"Really Melissa? Really? You go
rock climbing
sky diving
base jumping
sperlunking
scubba diveing
with your kids? "

you answered :all except the sky diving (which i hope to take care of soon) and yes when he is old enough i will do them with him

Im sorry your comprehension skills are lacking and you cannot answer a question correctly you must have had a super fit childworker teaching you .

Anyway , keep digging that hole it would actually be funny if it wasn't so sad .

I don't have a problem with obese childcare workers (after all obese women can have babies too) my problem is young 16 to 18 year olds looking after kids in daycare centres. these girls don't know how to look after babies! i know they can have babies too but they're far too young to be looking after 6 or more children per carer. I would rather hire a 30 something obese person than a 16 year old

Shannen - posted on 01/22/2011

Exactly Emma, a Bad nany being thin or fat would just feed your child crap and therefore teach him bad habits.

its like "fat" = the "N" word with you

geez, its not that big a deal, your poor kid must be smothered
*direct quote from Melissa*

Yup, I guess if we compare parenting styles my kid is smothered....what a joke

Just because someone is thin doesn't mean they are going to enforce healthy habits with your child or even means the exercise. I know heaps of thin people who eat shit food all the time and don't exercise. A good nanny would do what you ask her to with the kids like go to the park and prepare meals out of your pantry with food you bought even if she was large or ate different foods to what you consider healthy.

Sarah, I agree i don't think the BMI in accurate at all, My doctor ont he other hand took it as gospel while i was pregnant.

I'm am certainly NOT a body builder, but i am quite tall, Still in your eyes i wouldn't look right to look after your children because of my size.
Again, do YOU do all those things you have mentioned? Because if you don't then the same can be said for you. Just because you SAY you can do it doesn't mean anything.

Thats why America has the highest obesity rates in the world?
I'm not in america and i actually live in a farming community which requires a LOT of physically hard work.

Have YOU done any of those things?
