What do you think about Amazon selling this?
http://www.amazon.com/Pedophiles-Guide-L...

A few friends of mine contacted Amazon to complain, and they replied saying that it would be censorship to not sell the book. What do you think? My thought is - Amazon is a business, not some governmental agency, so screw censorship! As a business you can pick and choose who you do business with - so why sell such filth?

If it really offends you, complain to them! Here's a facebook page we started to help spread the word and boycott Amazon until they remove this title from their listings.

i was telling people at work, on fb, in the bloody supermarket about this filth...when i told my husband he wanted to get together a mob of angry father's and find the lunatic. He said and i quote "You don't buy a cook book unless you are going to cook, so anyone buying this crap needs to be strung the F*&K up, Amazon probably doesn't want to take it down because sickos are buying it, What's next, a how to murder guide?"...

Please tell me this pedophile didn't actually get on tv and admit to this crap...He probably already has, but of course he can't admit that now can he...BleeeCCKKK

Well many people recieved emails after complaining saying they would not remove the book because they do not believe in censorship , personally i believe they did keep it up because after it went public the sales went up from a small number to 60 sold in a couple of hours only was it when media got involved they retracted it .

Jenn, how do you know they only took it down because of the "all mighty dollar". Of course it's going to take them time to review and remove it and they did. Amazon is a huge company, I highly doubt they pay that much attention to what books are being sold on the Kindle's. If there is someone who approves each and every book then their head should be on the chopping block, not the whole company.

And if you're implying that I don't care if they sell books like that by your "it speaks volumes" comment or you are speaking to my character, then you can kiss my fucking ass.

Would Amazon allow an al queda book describing how to bomb people, or a guide to defrauding the benefits system? This book is surely inciting illegal activity and amazon should be charged with aiding and abeting child abuse.

I suspect it is all a con and gets Amazon on the news just before Christmas so they can look like the good guys by removing the book "in response to customer opinion"

Tah, I agree with you one million percent! Not only have they used scare tactics to try to get people to NOT close their accounts, I have heard reports of them lying about closing accounts. That people have gotten the confirmation email that their accounts are closed but can still log in, when emailed, Amazon just runs them through the hoops again and send them another email with the "Are you sure you would like to close your account?" But it works in "our" (our being those of us who will never shop with Amazon again) because it's only fueling the fire.

Otherwise, I think your post was very respectful due to the fact I think we all have a blue streak in our mind of what we'de like to really say!!!

didn't they also threaten people who said they would close their accounts...now it gets ugly...(making the sign of the cross and knowing i have to go to the altar tommorrow)..I don't give a rat's ass about any supposed review. It only takes someone with the reading comprehension of a third grader to see what the book was about. I am not going to support any company that has to wait until a damn it investigative reporter shoves a microphone and camera up their ignorant, non-caring, pedophile supporting and encouraging, stupid asses before they actually take it off and then turn around a threaten the parents and damn it those who just love kids in general with not ever being able to open an account and closing accounts with stores that they are affiliated with.

These sons of bitches and hoes know exactly what the hell they are doing and they should not make another sale ever....Teaching someone how to safely molest and rape children and then get away with it, just the fact that they would allow such nasty-ass filth is what speaks volumes and i don't see how anyone with children would still buy from them or make excuses for there cavalier attitude. God forbid something were to happen to someone's child and they find a damn guild in the pedophiles house that they bought off amazon after all the letters went out, wouldn't that be a f*cked up feeling if you just ordered a damn Jane Austen book off their asses...

Now the real words in my head i left there, but Goodness me...they were itching to come out, trying not to be a potty mouth, but my husband has nothing on me when i'm pissed, and he is the sailor....and i'm getting pissed......going for a time out...

How much review does it take to look at the title? "A Pedophiles Guide to Love and Pleasure" A few seconds to go "Oh...wow, yeah that one shouldn't have gotten through!"? Wouldn't take me more than a few seconds. Not to mention this isn't the first time they've done this. In 2002 they had the same scandal with the Loved Boys book...and they refused to pull that one at that time. What about the RapeLay game where in first person player you go out and rape a mother and her daughters, big scandal over that one that they then pulled after enough media attention in 2009. How many chances does Amazon get? For me...not that many. 3 strikes your out.

*edit to add: it also shouldn't take them an entire day to read the authors own, self written description of the book which stated that it was a GUIDE for other pedophiles to involve children "safely", how to NOT get caught and how to receive lighter sentences when caught. Seriously, wouldn't take me 10 minutes to make the decision AND get it off the page. They did not act quickly at all, they defended the book and the author and themselves and only pulled it AFTER CNN and Anderson Cooper and Fox News and MSNBC and other media outlets covered it...it wasn't about taking the time to review it.

For Amazon, that's not even close to a drop in the bucket. I seriously doubt they kept it up to make enough money off of sixty more books.

We're talking about a company that offers close to a million books, magazines, newspapers, etc, for the Kindle. On top of (probably) millions of products.

You really think Amazon kept the book up so it would sell more copies of it?

And yes, they sent out a generic form letter, just like they do for EVERY book they get complaints on. Like I said, they have an obligation to check out the book, before they remove it. To me, they did that in ample time.

So you have no problem with them selling another pedophile book? Or the fact that they only took it down because of the all mighty dollar and not because they were morally disgusted by it? I guess that's your choice, but it speaks volumes.

[deleted account]

I can't believe they're trying to scare people like that. I think THAT is even more disgusting than them putting the book up in the first place. I really hope that everyone stands their ground.

Leah, Amazon does in fact carry books on how to make bombs and detonate (including an atom bomb), they a book on how to smuggle cocaine by the ton, cock and dog fighting (both illegal) and much more.

Latest emails from Amazon are ensuring people if they do actually close their accounts they cannot ever reopen it and will also automatically close their target accounts and accounts for other businesses that they own or are affiliated with. Scare tactics much? It was bad enough they put the book up in the first (and not the first time either, Loved Boys was a huge controversy in 2002 but it didn't get pulled then!) but they have defended themselves AND the book, that's what really makes me mad and opens my eyes to just exactly how far down they will shove their morals for a few bucks.

I sincerly hope that this is a ploy. Perhaps the book was put on Amazon by the FBI and they are monitoring it and keeping track of whoever buys it...
Thats my optimism seeping through. I sincerly hope that that is the case and that the world is not coming to this. You wouldn't be able to find books on how to make crystal meth or bombs on amazon, so why a guide for pedophiles? If it is legit, sick sick sick and I hope Amazon goes down in flames along with the author and publisher!

I know Kim is getting interviewed from some local media or something and she's all nervous - 4 kids in the background LOL!!!!

So yesterday I emailed Amazon and got the form letter "censorship blah blah blah" response. In the email, they gave me two options: Did I solve your problem? If yes, click here ________. If no, click here ________. So I clicked no, and it brought me to another screen to email them again. And I did. I figured I'd keep doing it over and over, just because I really am so disgusted by the whole thing. So here's what was in my inbox just now, not sure if this is a form letter or not, but I think it's hilarious and wanted to share:

Hello Joy,

This book is no longer available for sale.

"Did I solve your problem?

If yes, please click here:
http://www.amazon.com/rsvp-y?c=cyqthbvx3...

If no, please click here:
http://www.amazon.com/rsvp-n?c=cyqthbvx3..."

That's the entire message ROFL! We've rendered them almost speechless! LOVE IT!

I watched the interview with the author last night (well 2am this morning during a feeding...) and it was creepy. He admits to having feelings for children and wanted to make a book about how to do it "right".
To me the part that was the creepiest is this guy thinks he's doing a good thing. He thinks that this is okay and if done under the right cirumstances, etc. that it is okay to touch children. It makes my skin crawl just thinking about it. It is never okay to touch a child like that I don't care if you're disease free or not...

Not only are there other books on pedophilia, but there are books on How To smuggle cocaine into the country and guides for other illegal activities. In 2009 Amazon was selling a video game (I believe it was called rapelay?) where it's a 1st person viewpoint, you go in and rape a mother and her daughters. It wasn't until public outrage that they took it off their site.
This isn't the first time Amazon has forgotten what morals are for the almight dollar and it won't be the last. Personally, I don't intend to shop through them anymore, they defended the book right up until they realized how much money they were losing by offering it. Not the kind of place at which I want to throw my money.
