I mean weird. Someone craved detrol. It's called Pica.

Pica (play /ˈpaɪkə/ py-kə) is a medical disorder characterized by an appetite for substances largely non-nutritive (e.g., metal, clay, coal, sand, dirt, soil, feces, chalk, pens and pencils, paper, batteries, spoons, toothbrushes, soap, mucus, ash, gum, etc.[1]) or an abnormal appetite for food ingredients (e.g. flour, raw potato, raw rice, starch, ice cubes, salt).[2] For these actions to be considered pica, they must persist for more than one month at an age where eating such objects is considered developmentally inappropriate. The condition's name comes from the Latin word for magpie, a bird that is reputed to eat almost anything.[3] Pica is seen in all ages, particularly in pregnant women, small children, and those with developmental disabilities.

I never had that weird of ones.

I don't recall having any cravings with my healthy children. Wait a minute there was the time I so wanted black olives I went and bought a can. I had piles of olives on my salad. After that I could not handle them. I would close my eyes driving past restaurants where I had eaten them. Refused to walk down certain isles at the grocery. Mostly tho with my healthy pregnancies I would rather not have eaten at least in the early weeks. With my miscarriage tho I had to have things that went crunch. Carrots celery popcorn etc.

I always like crunching ice. Whether or not I'm pregnant. I've had my minerals checked but I don't have any deficiencies. With my daughter I did have low potassium and with my son low iron.

Not very weird but with this baby I crave coconut. I actually drank most of a can of coconut milk the other day. Tropical fruits like coconut, pineapple, mango are not usually something I like very much but I can't get enough. I've also been craving steak with this one. A big bloody rare steak...

Nope With my daughter is was curry and rice and anything pickled. My son was cheese cake. Never forget telling Brian that I was craving Cheese cake and his words to me were "Where to F?":% am I going to find Cheese cake at 10 in the evening on a Sunday night?" that was 10 years ago and here in SA shops close at 5 on a Sunday night and Cafe's and Restuarants at 10.And th fuel station convienance stores didn't and still don't have all kinds of treats and baked goods in them.

My sister told her Doctor while she was preggo, that all she wanted to do was lick the pavement....yup....and she did....tar, sidewalk...whatever....

My only weird cravings (not like that) were with my son....fresh cut pineapple, and salt and vinegar chips.

No WEIRD cravings. I craved all types of fruit in both pregnancies. Mix that with the heightened sense of smell and I was pudding in the produce section.

The only sort of weird one was coffee in my first pregnancy. The coffee isle was torture especially since I was abstaining.

I hated Salmon before getting pregnant with Miles and then during my pregnancy I ate it about 1-2 times a week...I couldn't get enough of it, and if I could have, I'd have eaten it every day. I still like it, by the way...and so does he...Which is interesting, because Miles doesn't like anything....Probably not what you meant by weird tho...

I did know this girl who wanted to drink Pine Sol while she was pregnant...that's probably more like what you were looking for...:)

Nothing really weird no. I often liked an egg sandwich with pickles. I could have been as nauseas (sp?) as anything, but then I would get McDonalds be able to eat it and be just fine.

No weird cravings... just weird that I craved them.

I had no actual cravings w/ my son (that I remember), but w/ the girls it was watermelon, lasagne, cornbread, chocolate cake, and pizza w/ spinach and ground beef on it (yep, I needed iron).

Oooo grapes and chocolate milk with my first and then jello with my second.

Nothing that could be considered pica, but I did have an unusual and persistent craving for raw vegetables, mainly broccoli, which coincidentally I don't normally enjoy all that much.

Red grapes and broccoli were my vice.
