Hate your job or love your job?

Most days, I love my job. I'm a Labor and Delivery nurse, and have been for about 15 years.



Some nights really suck, and some nights are simply magical.



The biggest reason I'll probably never leave? The incredible people I work with...they make even the most horrendous nights tolerable, and we support each other through all of life's big and small moments.



Of course, I love it so much more since I'm part time...

I love my job. I'm a medical receptionist in a General Practice. We have 4 doctors and 3 nurses.Since going back after maternity leave I only work 2 mornings a week so it doesn't infringe too much on spending time with my daughter. I love dealing with the patients. I love the liason with the medical staff. I love that I can help a frazzled mother with a feverish toddler, or an exhausted daughter caring for her ailing parents. Of course there are elements of it I could do without - the doctor-shoppers and drug addicts are not my favourite parts of the job. But overall I enjoy it, even though I'm not 'using my degree' (as so many friends and family still love to remind me lol).

I've been teaching for 14 years now and have loved/hated parts of it over the years. It's why I can now recognize my career pattern of changing my teaching assignment every few years. For the 1st 5 years, I taught special ed 7th/8th grade. Then I taught general ed. 7th/8th language arts. Then took a part-time gig while my son was small and I returned for my master's doing elementary gifted. Now I am back to full time 1st-8th grade gifted. Next year, I'm teaching 9th grade English. Time for me to change up my employment!

But throughout high school & college, I never had any job I hated either. I was a cashier at a food store, day camp counselor, hostess at Denny's, and a chiropractic assistant. All jobs I enjoyed to some extent or another.

I had a job that I really liked and was intellectually stimulating, but was informed that the funding for it ran out, they put me in another position that I now hate. But, what can you do? I love my job as a mommy, though...even when she hits me with a toy and gives me a fat lip.

lol, we don't do chairs but our tables are second to none. The best part is our customers are the designers. We don't inventory anything.

I love my job. I''m a bookkeeper/office manager for a custom wood furniture company. We make absolutely gorgeous pieces and I'm happy to be a part of the process and learn so much about the industry. I do all the office work, full cycle accounting, website maintanence, marketing, ad design, some quotes and am currently learning software for doing shop drawings. I'd like to branch my knowledge out into interior design down the road and take a drafting course.

The best part is I work from Mon-Fri 9-2. I get to take my daughter to school and pick her up everyday and my boss is very understanding about keeping a kid home sick or going to a school performance. I used to be FT. I quit because it was too much time away so my boss cut my hours and gave me a raise. We have a very complicated system here and he understands I am one of the few who can handle and understand it. I also get alot of enjoyment out of working so my situation is totally win-win.

I can't really say that I loved or hated any specific job. There were elements that I liked and disliked about each one. I loved being a body piercer for example because I enjoyed being a part of the body modification process for another person, but I hated the drama that came with working at a tattoo shop. Or when I was a bartender I loved the high speed of the job, but hated dealing with drunk a-holes.

I work at Sylvan Learning Center and its few hours and low pay but its fun and incredibly meaningful and the best job I've ever had. Also, the best bosses I've ever had. All centers are not the same though. If you have a bachelor's degree and teaching experience you should try it.

Haha, yes the girls were pretty silly. I was told when I started that there were five girls in the dorm that had committed murder. I was offered a list but refused. Just didn't want to know.

And the museum I worked in was called Rural Life Museum. It's actually a pretty cool place. During different events I dressed in old clothes and demonstrated things like candle making. If I could have done that all the time it wouldn't have been as bad. But I mostly sat in a gift shop that got one visitor on a normal day. Pretty boring, but a great place to study!

lol I actually thought the boys were more docile than the girls. For the most part. Of course they usually had more serious offenses, and the worse the offense the better behaved they were in jail. I drew pictures with a kid who killed another kid over shoes and a cell phone, but the girls who were just runaways we're pretty wild! silly kids.

I've actually been thinking about working at our science museum, I tend to go for places that offer discounts on things I would use. Museum discounts or zoo discounts could be very handy! I wish the zoo would let me work with animals though. I used to dream of working at the zoo with the elephants. Love elephants ♥

Glad i'm not the only one! lol
I only work part time (thank god!) if i worked at my job full time i would go insane!
I work stacking shelves in a supermarket. I guess i get down about it because
i know i could do something a bit more challenging than that.
Still, for the moment, it's the best thing for the kids, so i'll grin and bear it!

I do wish i had a "career" in mind for when the kids are older and i could do something more rewarding. My big problem is that i've never known "what i want to be when i grow up". :)

I hate my job, but only because I'd much rather be a SAHM, not at work doing useless junk. I am a Business Development Analyst, which is a fancy way of saying that I look for new customers. We sell electrical wire and cable to major construction projects (pipelines, hydro plants, wind farms, etc.) and let me tell you, staying home playing peek-a-boo was actually far more challenging than discussing cable insulation needs with engineers. Ugh. Before I had my daughter, I actually liked my job, but now, I'm just putting in time. I went to school to be a social worker, and sometimes I think I'd be happier working if I went back into that field, but when I am really honest with myself, I'd just prefer being a professional mom.

I love being a SAHM! Wouldn't change it for the world.

Before that I was a teacher. Loved the kids. Loved planning and implementing lessons. Hated the parents and grading papers and other random paperwork. I think it would be a dream job if teachers could afford personal assistants to do all the paperwork.

Before that I was an assistant to a handicapped student at my university. That was great fun. I got paid to take her to doc appointments and grocery shopping and church. So things I would have done anyway (except the appointments). We're still friends.

Before that I worked in a museum gift shop. Pretty boring.

My job as a stay at home mum , LOVE IT !!

My job previously to being a mother i wouldn't even describe as a job , it was a passion i loved going to work everyday and teaching , i would go on holidays and get excited when it was time to return , i really miss it at times and cant wait to get back to it in the future even though the pay is SHIT HOUSE and that in itself says i did it for the love not money :)

I love my jobs! Most of the time I am a stay at home mommy, which is awesome--I have fun and it's something different everyday.
I also own 2 small businesses which I work on a couple of days a month, but I keep in mind all the time. The full days work are spent on bookkeeping and implementing ad campaigns, but I'm always looking for new products, thinking about exciting ways to promote, or strengthening our brand, so it kind of becomes a full time job....just without many dedicated work hours.....and very, very little pay. :)

I've never worked a job I hated. I've cleaned houses, offices, sold auto parts, managed offices, done flower decorating, managed a floral shop, worked as a call center rep., general retail sales..

You know? I take it back. Although I didn't hate it, I really disliked working for the local icecream place in highschool. It was a friggen nightmare.

I work with good people. They aren't all fully understood but they're basically good people. I have a good time there and enjoy the work.

I'm somewhat torn on this one. For the first year after Kiera was born, I was a stay at home mom with her which is ultimately my dream job. I've always known, since very early on in childhood, that I wanted to be a stay at home mom and take care of my babies. Unfortunately, life happens and I have to work to help take care of our quickly growing family.

Even though I would love to be at home with Kiera, I love my job. I kind of get the best of both worlds. I am a reading intervention specialist working with kindergarteners through third graders. I really enjoy my time with my students as well as the adult time I get with my coworkers. I am also only working part time so I am able to be at home with Kiera for most of the day and it pays really well!!! While it's not my dream job (SAHM), I couldn't ask for a more perfect job for our situation.

I am a bartender/server right now, and I actually really like it. There are great people, I get to have actual conversations with other adults, and the job itself is pretty straight forward. I'm good at it. I'm not fond of the late nights, but they are bearable. Yeah there are other jobs I would rather have, but there's also a lot of jobs that I would hate. So right now I like my job. My hubby on the other hand has hated every job he's ever had (aside from working in the tattoo shop).

I'm a housewife. I love some things about, hate some things about it. I did actually have ONE job I loved, once, not too long ago. Then I started dating my boyfriend and he happened to be one of my bosses and it caused so much drama among certain coworkers we both ended up leaving. Very sad, it was a fantastic job. Juvenile detention center ♥ the kids were awesome, the hours were awesome-third shift, watched movies all night, met some very interesting people, never a dull day in kiddie jail ;) BUT someone's always gotta start something and be a killjoy. Had we not quit we probably would have our kiddo though, so theres always a silver lining. We ended up with a lot of time on our hands when we were unemployed ;D

Well, I just started a new job a couple of weeks ago, but so far I love it. I work for a multinational non-profit and am the communications coordinator for my region. It's really interesting and challenging work, with a large creative component to it. The only challenge right now is that it does involve a certain amount of travel and/or late evenings, which can be tricky when you have an 8-month old who goes to bed at 7pm.
