OK..I have a girl coming to my daughter's birthday party this evening who is allergic to nuts, seeds and eggs...and because I'm not willing to pay $200 for a cake, and I'm NOT a baker... I thought maybe I'd make ice cream sundays instead and put the candles in that.

a) does anybody know a brand of ice cream that is safe?
b) if not, can you think of any other egg free, nut free deserts we can serve (that are either easy or buyable)?

your supermarket should have a lactose free, egg free nut free etc. version of gelato or of sherbert type dessert. Let it thaw slightly and pack into a small bowl that will hold it, re-freeze as long as you can. Line the bowl first with saran wrap or a clean plastic bag. About 5 minutes before serving, invert the bowl on a plate, stick candle in it and call it a big scoop.

I'm afraid I can't think of anything, but I was wondering if you could call the girl's mother and get some ideas from her? She must have a lot more recipes up her sleeve to suit her daughter than anyone else.

Good News! Believe it or not the no-name brand was perfect and we got three different flavours, we ordered pizza and ate chips and dip and she just went home with her parents...totally alive! Not even a rash, thanks for the help ladies.

Fruit pie or apple crumble with the oats and stuff on top is delicious and not very hard or time consuming to make. Making your own ice cream isn't that hard either I did it once with condensed milk, milk, cream, vanilla and something else I can't remember but there was no egg or nuts in it.

My niece has those same allergies - and there is more than one brand of ice cream that is okay. I think it was Breyer's that they usually buy; no idea if you have that in Canada. I do know that they did ice cream sundaes at more than one of her parties (my sister despised most egg-free cakes).

OOO!!!!
You can totally make your own ice cream! Kick the can ice cream! Seriously, Jordan and I do this (with or without the kids around lol) like once a month. You only need cream, sugar, flavoring, ice and salt.

I'm too embarrassed to call her cause I've left it this late...her solution was to send her daughter with her own treat but I HATE that kids with allergies are never allowed to have what everybody else is having

Do you have access to a vegan cookbook? (if not I'd be more than happy to pass along some vegan nut-free cupcake recipes to you).
As for ice cream...check out the health food stores (although there is probably at least one big brand that offers peanut free..) time to read the ingredient list!
