Hollywood Ego

Kanye West has officially lost it! While at the 2009 MTV VMA's Kanye rudely interrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance speech for 'Best Female Video' by grabbing the mic from her and acknowledging Beyonce instead.

Beyonce was up against Taylor and lost, which clearly angered Kanye.

Kanye grabbed the mic from Taylor and said, "Yo Taylor, I'm really happy for you , I'm going to let you finish but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time...one of the best of all time!"

The audience then booed him until MTV cut to a clip. Unbelievable! You would think a 32-year-old man would know better than to insult a 19 year-old girl, but Kanye clearly doesn't.

According to MTV.com, once cameras cut away from the action, West flipped off the crowd and returned to his seat.

I really don't give a rats ass about hollywood or Kanye West or Taylor Swift but this just goes to show how lil respect people have for each other in the world these days - even on a world stage where these people rely on 'respect' from fans to keep their sales up and their tickets sold (especially Kanye - who has spewed crap about wanting to be a mentor to young african americans and all youth alike) this dude has the balls / lack of respect / lack of whatever you wanna call it, to pull that shit - even Beyonce looks shocked in the video.

I've only read bits and pieces about this and there's about 10 people on my FaceBook with their status' sayin different things - I just wanted to see what the reaction is elsewhere. There are people who are calling for boycotts of Kanye's merchandise/concerts/everything and and over all general shock of him pullin this stint. What do you think?

I believe he has Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Everyone should just ignore him, it'll never get any better. (I'm NOT excusing his behaviour!)

Kanye's an ass....and Beyonce's got class :) Am I a rapper now? LOL Seriously though, I think the way Beyonce reacted to the whole thing shows what a truly classy lady she is and bravo to her for that. Somebody's Momma raised them right......

Like Esther, I wasn't planning on buying any of his albums anyway. I didn't watch the show but have seen a few clips on it. I heard that MTV cut his performance from the show but that may or may not be true. His interrupting Tayor was so uncalled for and I hope he gets treated with the same respect he gives. Beyonce looked mortified and I thought it was very nice of her to let Taylor get back up and finish her speech!

Kanye West is a prick...I don't dislike his music, but I don't buy his stuff just because of crap he does like this. Not to mention his behavior on that Hurricane Katrina telethon thing...

I didn't watch this live, and couldn't care less actually (it was all over the "news" this morning tho, so I've seen the clips)...I think most of these people are ridiculous, and I don't care for Taylor Swifts "music"...BUT...He DOES have a chip on his shoulder and certainly seems to believe that EVERYTHING boils down to racism...I'm sure that was his theory last night too...I wonder if he felt like a giant ass when Beyonce won best video of the year??? LOL...and good for her by the way...letting Taylor Swift come up to the stage with her...what a sweet person!

It will be easy for me to boycott him since I wasn't planning on buying any of his albums anyway. Barry Manilow would never do such a disrespectful thing ;) (just kidding girls)

what an idiot, he definitely thinks he is the center of the universe, silly little man.:p
Beyonce is lovely...shes beautiful from the inside out, she looked really embarrassed too.

Well, Kanye West isn't exactly the pinnacle of human existence. Let's not forget that this is the man who, in a nationlly televised broadcast to benefit the victims of Hurricane Katrina, went off on a tangent and said "George Bush hates black people." Whatever anger or hurt he'd felt by President Bush's (or anyone else's) actions, that was not the place to address them. So I started turning the radio whenever one of his songs was on and refused to buy any of his music long ago out of hurt and anger that he would so disrespect the victims of a natural disaster by using it as a platform for his personal vendetta.

But I agree-he was out of line, and it reflects a sort of mentality of "me me me" that a lot of people have. I don't know if this is a new thing, though. I think we just notice it more because there are more forums of public opinion now than in the past, and because we're older and notice this sort of thing. It's sad, really, but I have no idea how to cure it other than to try (and I do say try, because sometimes my attitude gets the best of me as well) to be as empathetic and open-minded to others as possible, and hope that they will follow suit.

I have ALWAYS said Kanye is an egotistical maniac .
He also pissed all over his dressing room before leaving it because he was "forced " to share it with the band : the ting tings .
He then went on to state in another interview that his music defies genre and should have a genre all to its own " pop art " he called it .
I really cant stand him and it doesn't surprise me that he would do that .
