Since our last thread was locked up here is a thread 'specifically' for the homeschoolers and unschoolers who are interested in the resources. OR, just want to discuss the topic.

Not cool. It's not montessori but did you look at the video games from Big Brainz?? It would be fun and she would still be learning. I know, doesn't fix the situation thought. :(

No, they're stupid. Things like:

1+1=

1+2=

1+3=

etc etc.

Over the weekend she was sent home with a sheet of addition questions and they ALL equaled 10. So after 4 questions she figured out they were ALL equal to ten and just filled them in. So, I've decided she's not doing stupid homework any more. They got a problem with it they can deal with ME. They've already tried to wash it with the "well, it's KIND OF Montessori". No, it isn't. My mom is a retired teacher, I'm an aid, I grew up in Montessori. This shit is NOT in any way, shape, or form Montessori. >:|

Anytime Jodi!! No matter what type of schooling children get, new resources are always good. I have so many....it was nice to put them all in one place!! LOL I hope I got them all out of the old thread and I'll try to add more.

The math video games were the biggest hit if you're interested. It's the bigbrainz website.

Dr. Carlo Ricci, from Nippsing university here in Ontario has a youtube channel on unschooling and is the author of many published papers regarding homeschooling.

Here's a link to his page...

I think he is one of the most forward thinking, current and informed people I know when it comes to unschooling.

For the homeschooler and unschoolers: Even tho we follow a curriculum for Math. Kids still get bored to pieces. I found a great video game that quizzes them on math in order for them to advance. It only use to be multiplication but now they have adding, subtraction and division. there is a free full version or you can purchase a version that let's you change the backgrounds and stuff.

We use this as a Geography project. When we receive a post card from a different Country, we then learn about it. Once people find out we homeschool they usually are very helpful and supply info from their town and Country. Probably better for older kids. ...~kelly
