It does'nt read great, but when being a Mother is all you have ever wanted and you don't have the money for ivf. You would do it. Plus Ivf takes on average 4 cycles to work. So one cycle is most times not enough.

Maria most people in the UK use the NHS hospitals which are funded by taxs rather than have private healthcare. So most people can have at least one shot at IVF as long as they meet the criteria. Also if IVF isn't an option or isn't successful then there are other things available on the NHS.

I don't know about morally wrong, but it is kind of strange, and yes, I do think it minimizes the creation of life. It sort of makes bringing a child into the world something you shop for.

I got my answer when I actually read the article. I really think this is fucking cool. I am all for it. Especially this part:

But, how many times will they offer it to the same people? Until they have success? Or is it a one time deal? I have known people to do IVF 3-4 times or more before conceiving!

I think it is pretty cool that they are doing this. There are so many people out there that want children and cannot succeed in getting pregnant. But all the alternatives are so damned expensive, it is only available to the rich, or people who are willing to go bankrupt.

Seems pretty cool to me. I mean im for doing ways the natural way. But if i could never get pregnant for whatever reason im sure i would look into my options. Im one of those people who knew she always wanted to be a mother and have a lot of kids so if i couldnt even have one. . . i definitely would try and see what else i coud do. And it really sucks when the one thing holding u back is money especially when your insurance wont help u out. So with that being said i think its great to give someone the oppurtunity that they could otherwise never afford. I just hope that it goes to people that really want it and derserve it.

IVF in the UK is already a lottery - whether you can get it depends on your post code and whether your local NHS funds it, some places offer women three attempts on the NHS others two or one and some none. So if you can't afford private treatment you may not be able to have it. However, with that said I feel charging for it is wrong - not only is it taking away from the seriousness of the situation of pregnancy and having children it is taking advantage of people who may feel they have no other option.

It seems like a very BAD idea to me . . .don't people undergoing IVF get counseling and stuff before hand to determine if that is the right path for them? Because IVF can be so freaking traumatic??

Basically it sound like a way to sell papers to me :o(
