Granted, I don't think it was right for the parents to be laughing about it, but I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt and say it maybe just caught them off gaurd... what I find more disturbing is a bunch of adults judging a 3 year old, calling him "ungrateful" and "brat", the kid is only 3. sorry if you expect perfection from someone at that age but it's unrealistic, everyone's entitled to an off day.

No way! I would be upset...Of course, my son LOVES books, and was thrilled when he opened books from us, his aunts, and his grandparents...He was ecstatic about all of his gifts tho...PJ's, slippers, underwear, toys...didn't matter to him...Of course...ours don't get piles of gifts from anyone; they just a few things and they don't get "Stuff" randomly throughout the year either...So anything they get to "open" is exciting...

I have to say I am a youtube nut. I love all the funny videos on their. I also have to admit if I knew how to do the whole video thing I would probably be one with some up there. Some of the things kids do are some of the funniest things I have ever seen, even some of their not so shining moments.

My 4 year old opened a shirt and pants from his Grandma and proceeded to say in a loud voice "BOOORRINGGG" needless to say we had a little conversation about people not having to bring any presents at all and being polite and appreciating what you get. (he got lots of toys from grandma also) When Santa put socks in his stocking X-mas morning he actually got a smile on his face and said "Hey mom socks aren't boring"

All kids are going to act up but it's the parents responsibility to teach them why their actions are not appropriate. If she doesn't like how commercialized it's become then sit down and explain it to him. 3 is old enough to understand.

Oh and my kids got tons of books and can't get enough of them.

His reaction doesn't bother me as much as the fact that the parents are laughing about it. That just encourages the behavior. Cole has his moments when he is rude and I totally understand that he's only 2 (or 3 in this child's case) and hasn't mastered all the social graces yet. Heck, some adults haven't mastered simple manners yet! But, when Cole is rude, we let him know right away that his behavior is inappropriate. If he had reacted like this to one of his Christmas presents, he would have been told that was rude and to apologize and say thank you, not laughed at! Incidentally, at not quite 3, he made a big deal over all of his presents, even the clothes, and loves books! And he said thank you to everyone too.

It isn't nice behaviour, but I think any parent who claimed their child hadn't had a bigger melt down over something much less important on probably the most exciting day of the year would be fibbing!

I think the parents laughing is actually the biggest problem here, as it does suggest that this little boy's behaviour is not being corrected when it goes awry. After all, he's only 3, it isn't his fault he is acting a little bratty if he has been set no other example or offered the right guidance.

Personally, I think it's a shame this little boy hasn't been encouraged to love books as much as toys, anyway. We have always kept the kids books in the basket along with their toys and look at them often as part of whatever game we are playing, so they wouldn't see them as less exciting than any other gift. In fact, my 4 year old daughter's favourite pressie this year has been a set of Mr.Men books.

It is really funny...cause its not my kid. But if my son acted like that towards me-or the family- I would be so horrified! And how he behaved during the interview? Nope, I would like to call him a brat but this screams poor parenting!

Sorry he is a little boy at home none the less. It was cute. He spoke very eloquently on camera and I found was also very polite. So I tend to think it was simply a quick moment. I didn't think it was over the top either. He didn't fall to the floor crying, sobbing or fling the gifts. It was simply cute.

What a brat! I don't think it's really funny, I think that kid is a turd. Of course, my kid loves books, so.. But still. No kid should act that way when they open a present on Christmas. Ungrateful little turd.

What it comes down to is each kid is different, they're all not going to act the same. It doesn't mean one kid is better than another or that one parent is a better parent. It means a moment in a toddler's life was caught on tape and it happened to be at a time when he was acting out.

I think the only reason why it is comical is because he was only 3 years old. If he had been older, like maybe 8, it wouldn't have been all that funny; maybe not even at all. And of course the comments would have been a lot worse. It is expected at this age.

I don't think my daughter has ever acted this way about a gift at all. If she doesn't like it you can tell but she doesn't get all snotty about it.

My son is almost 3.... He gasped w/ excitement at every single gift he got. Including his underwear. ;) The only actual toys he got were 2 matchbox cars from me and the 'coveted' little motorcycle from one of his sisters. He was thrilled w/ it all.

Not saying my kids are incapable of bratty behavior or ungratefulness, but from my experiences w/ them.... and what I witness from other children (some positives, some not). Expectations and commercialism are taught 'behaviors' that aren't really that hard to avoid... as long as you have parents that don't buy into the commercialism aspects either.

It's the first tiem I saw this. I don;'t beleive the mom personally posted the video clip to You Tube. I think she said she sent it to several freidns & family members, who then passed it along. I haven;t looked for it on YouTube either. But I have to think about it from a 3 year old's point of view: the kid was expecting toys! A bit bratty? Possibly, but not so over the top. I thought it was funny, and simply a huge misconception. At my son's 5th birthday party this year he received a Lightning McQueen toy from the movie Cars. Well, he's passed that movie and no longer lieks Cars, and he made a comment similar to his friend "I hate Cars!" Well, it turned into a teaching moment instead of hyping it up.

And the kid is 3, it's not like he's 5-6 acting this way. How many of our kids are tired and overwhelmed before Christmas morning is even over with. Hell, Ethan was tired and overwhelmed by Christmas Eve!

Ya, but isn't it OUR job to teach them that Christmas isn't JUST about gifts, and certainly not just about toys. I guess I just would have taken that opportunity to teach Roxanne a lesson or two INSTEAD of posting it for the world to see.

Amongst the comments on one of the YouTube links (no ide which one) there was someone who mentioned something to the effect of "you should see the FULL video, the parents are so far up their arses". But I haven't been able to find anything different to this....

Haha! I didn't see this until just today but if I had seen it on youtube (which I don't frequent because I think it's a waste of time) I might have made a rude comment. I think laughing at his reaction is horrible. Meh, maybe I'm being a Debbie Downer? I dunno......afterall, I laugh when Roxanne swears. I just hope the kid actually isn't the spoiled brat he appeared to be. I'm not convinced he's not and I think his parents and THAT type of reaction are at fault.

While I think his reaction might have been typical, I think the mom is delusional blaming it on the commercialization of Christmas. SHE obviously feeds into it and therefore he's subjected to it. I'm not so much bothered by his reaction but I do think it's disgusting nowadays the type of things that people post for the world to see AND, my biggest gripe is the mother's comments about the nasty comments and quick judgements she recieved as a result of the video......don't post shit on the internet and expect any less. I guess they got their 5 mins of fame!?!!

Yeah, I've seen it. lol I think your first reaction could be what a little stinker but, once you get the full picture it's funny. It's too bad that people respond without knowing the full picture though.

two years ago when my son believed in Santa....
he got some clothes for xmas...whe he opened and seen what was inside the box...he said "Santa doesnt give you clothes!" and he was a bit upset as well

I think its funny. Obviously he parents thought he would like books. They chose them as gifts for x-mas thinking he would enjoy them. Which it made it all the funnier that he had such a reaction.
