Krista, my husband agrees with you about Super Why. He screams at the tv...the 'E' is RIGHT THERE!!! I have to remind him that the show is not for HIM, but for your three year old daughter. She literally cheers when it comes one and interacts with it the whole time. I like it because it uses the techniques for teaching reading that I learned in college...and because it keeps her busy for a few minutes.

Hates:
Caillou -- he's such a whiny little shit. If it comes on the TV, my husband and I both dive for the remote.
Max & Ruby -- Max is a brat, and Ruby is such a pill. My son loves them however. Sigh.
Super Why -- it takes them a half-hour and 40 steps to solve a problem that a 5-year-old could solve in 3 minutes. Drives me nuts.
Wonder Pets -- "This is sewious!" "We have to HELP him!" Fuck, they get on my nerves.

Likes:
Olivia -- unlike a lot of kids' shows, Olivia's parents are present, and are actually smart, nice parents with jobs. I find their depiction of family life to be more realistic than in most shows.
Yo Gabba Gabba -- it's funky and fun. I loved the episode with Jack Black.
Sesame Street -- classic. Krista ♥ Grover 4Eva.
Dora and Diego -- they never fail to cheer my kid up.
Backyardigans -- I like their songs, and they've got fun dance moves.
The Wiggles -- Anthony is hot. That is all.

Word World is Molly's current favorite, with Super Why a close second (she's very fond of Alpha Pig). SHe usd to be really big on Dora and DIego, but lost interest in them a while ago. Most of her Tv time is in the early am, when I'm showering, folding laundry, or whatnot. I pretty much just turn on PBS when I need to get a few uninterrupted minutes to accomplish something without her "help". FOr long car rides, we have Sesame Street and more Word World dvd's.

She does, however, have one other favorite, which she only gets to watch when she's at my dad's, which is about every other week. Tom and Jerry. I cannot begin to understand her fascination with it, since I never really liked it as a kid, but she freakin loves that "Jerry Mouse".

My son now likes the 'tween' shows and I have to admit that sometimes we watch iCarly & Big Time Rush as a family. We also love Dino Dan, Brain Surge, & Fetch with Ruff Ruffma.

I DESPISE MAX & RUBY.....yet hubby likes it! My son will still watch it every now and then. He'll still watch Blue's Clues and maybe backyardigans if they are not conflicting with another show!

We don't get most of the annoying shows that I tend to hear people complain about, but my kids like Dinosaur Train, Dino Dan, Little Bear (I LOVE that one), Winnie the Pooh, and they mostly watch movies like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Annie, Far From Home, Lion King, etc.

We have thongs(shoes) here in the USA too. In fact the shoes were called thongs before girls started wearing their underwear in their crack. Most people now call the shoes flip flops but they were thongs first.

I will not let my son watch Max and Ruby. That Max is a naughty bunny and his parents are never around..lol.

Super Why is very educational. Spongebob is our fav...the whole family loves it.

Elfrieda, my fiance and I agree with the Bob and Wendy thing. It is a bit strange really. He's always working and never notices her. The episode about the dance, in particular, seems really sad.

Toupee and Binoo are obviously a gay couple. They are the modern, Canadian Bert and Ernie life partners.

We have Netflix and DVD's. My kids love to watch Blue's clues,Dora, and Diego.... I sometimes find myself cleaning and singing one of the little songs from one of these shows lol I guess you could say that I've had a little too much of these three shows but they love it (and it's a few minutes I can get something done too) :)

Caillou always sounds like he's whining!!! I can't stand that show!!!! My kids love in the night garden..... I swear it's like a drug for toddlers and babies, they're mesmerized by it! I love that it's on at 8 PM because that when I'm getting them ready for bed and usually they're grumpy and tired from the day so when I turn it on I get little freaky baby zombies zoned into the tv..... LOL but it gives me a chance to run the bath, get bottles ready, pj's ready etc...... But I agree that Waybyloo (sp?) is above and beyond freaky.... they do wierd yoga and levitate and shit..... don't let that show on at my house for sure!

There is a show called Giggle and Hoot that goes for about 2 minutes and I get the stupid song stuck in ym head all day. But I don't even watch them half the time they are lame.

My kid either watches Sesame Street, Super Why, or one of the Disney movies (only one a day unless one of us is sick). I don't mind these, but I'm usually doing something else while she watches tv. I can't STAND Sid the Science Kid and Dinosaur Train. Don't know why but those shows seem obnoxious to me. But I suppose if she chose one of those over her normal shows I'd let her watch them.

We don't have cable, but my son has a Bob the Builder DVD which he sometimes watches with my husband while I'm getting dressed to go somewhere. (I take longer than them. Go figure) My husband and I have this huge backstory built up about how Bob and his business partner have this repressed love affair between them, etc. It makes it interesting for us, too! :) Of course, our son is too young to know what we're saying. I guess we'll have to clean up our act when he's older.

I think it's probably a cultural thing- Big and Smal is an English show and like in every other life situation, slang words' meanings differ from one country to the next. For instance here in Australia thongs are shoes (like flip flops) whereas in the US I understand it's a g-string. So someone from the US would find it a bit disturbing that we call our shoes thongs. Simialr thing- when we first lived together hubby's (ex?) step-daughter lived with us and my mum is Colonial African (so alot of British slang) so she called this child "flossy" which is, to my mum, a pet name for a little girl like darling or sweetheart. Unbeknownst to us this child was horrified as was hubby b/c in THEIR family 'flossy' is a name for vagina.

Yeah with the new baby here erics watching more tv then I'd ever like, he likes yo gabba gabba which I like cuz it's all singing and dancing. Backyardigans is weird, songs are weird, I don't like that one. Wonder pets is cute! Dora is annoying but he loves her :) Clifford is my favorite. Yeah too much tv but at least he has a wide variety he will watch so I don't pull out my hair!

I don't usually pay attention unless it's Sesame Street because I freaking loooooove Sesame Street. But the other day she had Dora on (my god she loves that stupid show) and it was this episode that's all musical and they're looking for treasure or some shit. Anyways, Swiper comes out and instead of his usual "oh man" he did this big dramatic sort of dance thing while this music played and sang "oooooohhh....maaaan". It was hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing and had to play it for my husband later. But that is definitely the only entertaining thing I've seen on that show.

If I notice something is really making my mind feel like mush, I won't let her watch it. Like In the Night Garden. Wtf is that shit? Or what's the one with the little critters that do yoga and call kids cheebies? Hate it. Basically if they aren't using really words, she isn't allowed to watch it.

Can't go wrong with the Street, yo. omg. The Adam Sandler/Elmo song was on a couple weeks ago and I got so excited.

hoo-ha = vagina. Everybody knows that. That's kind of disturbing they would refer to a bike that way.

Lol thats so funny..i tend to tune out when Dora or peppa pig is on..its usually the same episode that was on the day before :-) Head wrecking.Although my second could speak Spanish before English and were Irish lol.Who said tv for kids is not educational.

I'm not huge into television shows in the first place. I rarely allow my child to watch television. Saw an episode of 'the Backyardigans' once and they were singing "Can't stop, Can't stop the Cops"
Not into the whole brainwashing thing . . .

If I get listening, I end up watching , I'm such a kid. I don't usually put the box on because of the whole brain moosh thing. My Mum also called our private parts a who-ha (or flower). Big and small - I'll have to find that episode and get Mum to watch it! (she's as bad as me for watching with the kids)

I try to avoid listening to the shows.. They are mostly pretty stupid in my mind, and i prefer my brain not start dripping out my ears.
