Miscarriage punishable by death?

I can kind of see where he is coming from, the liklihood is if abortion is made illegal there would be an increase in 'miscarriages', so he has actually done what many pro-choice accuse the pro-life supporters of not doing, in that he has thought about the affect of this bill (albeit only from a pro-life stance, in that more people will have miscarriages which are legal because they are natural and cannot be controlled).

However, to say that anyone who is found guilty would be sentenced to death is a complete contradiction because how can you say one life is worth more than another? Shouldn't both lives be just as important as each other?

Also as Jodi has mentioned surely this bill would mean that people who cause the death of your baby (in utereo) due to negligent actions, such as RTA's would be held accountable for the death rather than as it currently stands they aren't - that would be a good thing.

But on the flipside, wouldn't it also make someone who killed your fetus (whether domestic violence, car accident, etc) through their actions a murderer, which is a good thing?



I think it's ludicrous, I have no idea what the intention of the Bill is, not having read the whole thing in context (and no time to read it now), but does the wording of the bill actually SAY that women who miscarry could become felons if they cannot prove it, or has it been just a poorly worded bill, with the intention to prevent abortion, and to ensure that anyone who kills a fetus (such as in the examples I have given) is held liable.



I'm not saying I agree with it, but I guess I am just struggling to believe someone would be so nuts as to have a law in place to investigate every miscarriage.....or maybe I do believe it from a pro-life zealot who thinks that if abortion is outlawed, suddenly the incidence of miscarriage will increase. Stupid.
