I think it's a completely inappropriate cheer for young girls, even 10-12 year olds, heck, even high school girls really shouldn't be signing that kind of stuff at a game. The idea of cheerleading is to help keep up school spirit and cheer on the team, not turn on all the pedophiles and young boys.

I saw a longer interview with her and the family. In fact I saw that before I saw this piece that seemed to want to make her out to be the bad guy by leading with the information from the coach and cheer director. She goes into detail about the steps she took even shows letter that she wrote to them.

I found it odd that the mother didn't have such the issue with the booty shake as she did with the back ache and skirt too tight. All of the adults in this situation were wrong though. Unfortunately, the child is the one who suffered and got taken out of something she thought was fun to do.

I told my husband i signed our daughter up for cheerleading and that was the first cheer she would have to learn...after i said it and added a half split he said and i quote "and what team is this for magic city(a strip club in va..), IF you want to see me tear the stadium up then go ahead let her talk about her skirt being tight and if i hear her say anything about booty shaking it's a wrap"......i had to tell him i was joking and explain this to him...i found her in her room looking in her closet when i asked him what he was was looking for, he said her cheerleading uniform...and i'm sure he wasn't gonna wear it....i think i may have just ruined her chances for trying out in high school..sorry sydney gurl(nickname)...but it was funny...i'm sick, i know...

Just watched the whole clip, the mother did state that she had gone to the coach, and spoke to other parents first. It took her a couple of weeks of battling to have the words changed before she got the media involved. I would of done the same thing. Those words are just too suggestive, and soooooo not appropirate for a 6 year old. Not even for a 13/14 year old....its just wrong! I dont think she has blown it all out of proportion....she done the right thing shining some light of this issue....lord knows how many other kids cheer groups are chanting stuff like this and going unnoticed. I think that any responsable cheer coach would have the chant approved by all parents before allowing the kids to shout it....I know some people would think, 'oh but that would only cause too much drama' ... just look at whats happened!!! Little girls shouting about tight skirts and shaking thier booty!!!

I'm not sure why the lil' girl (Kennedy) was kicked off the team, despite everything else that went on? AND, she's allowed back next year ON PROBATION? I don't get that.

If all else failed in any issue one has the right to bring it to the attention of all by going to the media.She gave it a chance to be sorted and then went like a bull i can imagine to the media.You can have children cheer lead by not making them say crap inappropriate cheers and dance .Its very simple and can be done people.If you have the right respectful and decent people leading the children.Make sure in future you know what your getting into when you allow your children to do things.Make sure you know what sort of adults there being thought by etc.

You may need to hear the whole story. In the story from the mom in the second half of the piece the mother went to the coach and the cheer director and the local cheering association. She tried to open a discussion with them and even had suggestions for changing the cheer to make it less offensive, but all refused to listen. After weeks of attempting to get this resoved with the team she went to the local media. Its easy to say that she should have just pulled her daughter from the team, but why not attempt to resolve conflict with reasonable discussion. Isn't it a better message for her child to teach her to stand up against something she believes is wrong and attempt to bring about change than to walk away without ever voicing your concerns. I don't know if I would have gone to the media, maybe in hindsight this mother might not have either given all the media attention its generated but that question was not asked.

What happened to the kid sucks. This could have been handled a lot better, but really what do you expect when you put your small child in cheer leading.

Fame-whoring at its best. If she really, really had an issue with it she would have pulled her daughter out of it and taken it up with the cheering organizers. Notice she didn't take her daughter out of cheering - and is now complaining that her daughter has to miss out on shaking her booty with the other six year olds. Find an appropriate activity for your kids... teaching your six year old that its cool to shake your short-skirt-clad booty in front of a crowd grosses me out.

I have no problem with kids dressing up as cheerleaders and dancing. I do have a problem with 6 year old girls chanting about and drawing attention to clothing being to tight on certain body parts. Are they trying to attract peadeophiles?

i was watching this on the way out the door the other day and i forgot to post it..but i remember that cheer..and when my friends and i did stepping to it..i did it far from my house because if my mom ever heard it i would be singing..."my mom chased me down and dragged me home now i sit in my room alone....i wish i could take it back cause i'm to young to shake like that",...and i was a teenager...it is inappropriate and i would not put my daughter back on the squad, but i am not surprised because i see these little girls in gawdy make-up to small and to sexy clothes...and heels at that age and i think it is too grown for them....find another sqaud or she should start one with parents that actually have morals and standards for their children...

She should have gone to the coach and the "family" as one member put it.
If she did that and didn't get the response she was looking for than she might have had better luck going to the media.
I think the coach is a bitch and I think the ones who suffer the most are the kids.
I personally don't like the idea of cheerleading to begin with. It is so stereotypical to have a bunch of scantily clad girls standing on the side lines cheering on a bunch of boys.
Put her into gymnastics or baton twirling or dancing or something less sexist.
I also think it's stupid how much coverage this story got!! My god aren't there more important things to report about!!

Ok, first of all.. The first version I heard of that cheer, I heard from my sister's friend when I was about 4 or 5 (my sister and her friend were about 10 or 11). That version was:

Our backs ache, our bras too tight, our booty shakes from left to right, from left to right, left, right, left right.

Anyway, I DO think that having a similar cheer for a group of young girls is inappropriate. Dancing and cheering has become so vulgar anymore, it's really disgusting. I ALMOST hope that I never have a little girl just so I won't have to put up with that crap (but I do want a little girl- someday).

I really don't see what the big deal was with the cheerleading squad using another cheer- one that is appropriate for little girls. I think the cheerleading coach was just being an idiot. However, I do think that the mom should have gone to her FIRST, then to the news later if the problem wasn't resolved.

Just read up more on it..i have to say i would be more than happy to have my daughter kicked out on what is good morals and decency, than to have her in a cheerleading team were all are for keeping the chant and just not allowing the kid to say it..so find another little child who has no clue of what there saying to keep all happy.If anyone in my town heard a kid chant shit like that we all would be going to the person who wrote it like bulls in a china shop.I guess in this story its what others are comfortable doing and allow children to say,as well as dance...its a common decency issue some wont stand for it others will.

Good glad the mother didnt allow her child to do it..nor would i allow my child to say it.Her child should not of been kicked off..the coach should of handled it well and realised who ever wrote the cheer was in the wrong.Okay if going to the news was right or wrong i dont know..but shame on adults writing that crap for a 6 year old cheerleading team.If the mother felt she was doing the right thing let her on.If she didnt oppose then what....Its acceptable for small kids to say this stuff and for adults etc to not say anything.Its not just a stupid cheer, a bit tacky etc its extremely inappropriate and the person who wrote it should be held accountable for there stupid thinking.Then we wonder why our children well i should say SOME children are growing UP way to fast.

I saw this on the news the other day. My mom and I both couldn't believe how much coverage it was getting.

We're both of the mind girls that age don't need to be cheerleaders anyway but the mom did mess it all up.

She should have gone through the proper channels first but oh no, she has to phone the news network. *eye roll*

It's ridiculous that the girl was kicked off because her mom objected. Obviously she wasn't that outraged, she never pulled her daughter. Her daughter was given the boot by the coach. Who is a bitch for doing that. She's mad at the mom so takes it out on the daughter. Awesome. =/

She handled it poorly, the organization reacted poorly, and the coach was a bitch about it. And of course it's the kids who suffer because the grownups couldn't pull their heads out. :/
