I saw the video and thought it was strange that the mother kept her bag, but left her daughter. Perhaps the mom thought that running would encourage the robber to leave her daughter alone and chase after her. Who knows? I find it interesting that people are condemning the mother and not the robber. What kind of sick man pulls a knife on a mother and child like that?

Exactly Jackie!! I know CRAZY too! I would open up a can of some serious whoop ass! I dunno, I am not one to back down. Knife, gun or not. I am a fighter, always have been. I seriously think, I would scare the asshole to death, since they would not be expecting me to stick my fingers in their friggen eyes! I have to problem with permanently blinding a robber.... ;)

When I was robbed at the bank I worked for, I was about 13 weeks pregnant. All I could think of was the miracle growing inside of me. I did what I was told and didn't care at all about letting him get away, I wanted him as far away as possible...damn straight I didn't pull my alarm until he was out the door.



If this story is true, I can't think of any reason that would validate this woman's reaction to being robbed. I feel bad for her child. I can't say what I would do, considering it has never happened to me with a child...but I feel my claws come out when someone even has something offensive to say. I would imagine that if this happened to me, the person trying to rob us would be crying for his mom. I don't know karate but I know crazy and NO ONE is touching my child

Maybe she ran hoping the guy would follow and get some distance between him and the girl... Maybe she ran because she saw someone across the road and was calling for help ...

She was hurt obviously after she ran not before, the girl wasn't hurt... we really don't know what happened based on 5 second clip.

I can't even imagine that I wouldnt instantly grab my child! Knifepoint or not, I am pretty sure I would throw the purse, sacrifice myself or whatever I had to do for my child! Wow...

I have no idea how I would react, so I'm reluctant to criticize. People do crazy things in a crisis.

The sensible thing would be to throw the purse, grab the kid and *then* run away. But most people don't behave sensibly when they're being robbed at knifepoint.

I think the 4-year-old deserves a shout-out for getting away!

Sally---I have a bat beside my bed. My kids rooms are very close to mine, 2feet away. I plan on running into my sons room, grabbing him and then into my daughter's. Where I would then come out and beat the living shit out of him, until he fell down my stairs! I also have a decent sized dog. Her bed is at the backdoor (we also have an alarm system). She isn't leting anyone in but if they sitll got in somehow, she would eat them until I could beat them to a very shallow breath.

Even though, we have a dog, an alarm and live in a very good neighbourhood. I still worry. Where we were broken into before, when living in a shaddy part of the city, I am still scared. We could have been home that time. I was not prepared back then. Not saying I am for sure now but I do take precautions. I also have my cell phone directly beside my bed.

My husband works nights, so sometimes, I am up at 3am from hearing a noise and don't fall back to sleep. **Sigh**

My eldest daughter was born during the Cold War. I had so many nightmares. Id decided if they started dropping bombs, we would have a picnic. That way we could all go to-gether. I was really scared and she'd be a baby alone. Thankfully it never happened and this was just in my mind. How many off ypu have played out in your heads what you would do if a bad man broke in . Im saying this because we all think we would do this,we would do that but until it happens, who knows

i honestly have no idea what i'd do in this situation. i don't think anyone really knows what they'd do. you can say what you'd want to do, but until you're there i don't guess it really matters. i know i am pretty territorial when it comes to my kid so i'd hope i'd kick some ass before i'd grab her and run, but who knows, i might do the same thing.

i would think throwing the purse would have been a much better idea.

I'm kind of a worrier, I have issues with anxiety. And ever since I became a mom, these scenarios play out in my head constantly. Always, ALWAYS I envision myself trying to save my son and keep him out of harms way. I'd hope that fear would not take our mom instincts away from us. Poor little girl!

Id have placed my daughter behind me and then handed my purse over as quickly as possible but i guess nerves got to this woman or she may have hoped to take the focas away from her. I hate these sort of stories because all you get is media hype and a mum "RUNNING" from her daughter makes for better print.

I've seen a few people who were attacked one way or another and acted in totally crazy ways. Even if I would have protected my child first and foremost, it is not real fair to judge this lady. Aderinaline and instinct take over, and she may have had little or no control of herself.

Yeah, I have not been robbed point blank. I have had my place broken into and had all of my bill money stolen. I know my first instinct then was to protect my daughter, I did not know if they were still in my home or not.

I am quite certain my first instinct would be to grab my kid. I would much rather be stabbed than have my child get hurt. I would have told my child to run, while I was handing my purse over.
