Oh, have fun with it. Nothing wrong with dressing a baby up as a monkey or a pumpkin and showing her off to a few neighbors. :)

I took my baby trick or treating to about 5 houses when she was an infant. I actually drove to houses where we had friends/grandparents. They loved seeing her all dressed up. :-)

If Halloween is a part of your life and you enjoy it, then your little one is not too young to be a part of it. She is an important member of your family and therefore should be included in the traditions you like to celebrate. ;-)

We took my daughter when she was 14 months. We had a blast. And hubby and I enjoyed the candy. She was only 2 months for the first Halloween, so we put her in the foyer so our friends & neighbors could see her in the costume when they came to the door. Halloween is my favorite holiday, so we go all out. I can not imagine skipping the trick or treating. We even took her to the Haunted House and she loved it. I'm not sure how a child can be too young to dress up like that? I mean, obviously they aren't going to eat the candy, but unless the weather is really bad, there's no reason why not.

I dressed my daughter up really warm at 2 months and took her out for about 10 minutes. We are moms and nothing is more cute and fun for us to show off our blessings, especially when you can dress them up and get all the awwww's from everyone lol, Take her out and enjoy, its both of your first halloweens together

My daughter was 11 months for her first Halloween. I did get her a costume, and took her to my sister's for the big day. She loved getting into a costume like her older cousins, and we did go to about 10 houses with them. I didn't have a bag for her to collect candy, she just went up to the houses and watched her cousins do their thing, which she found fascinating. It was a great night for all!

If I hadn't had my sister's kids to tag along with, I still would have dressed her up, and taken her to a few neighbor's houses, and knocked on the door just to say "Hi!" and show her off. IMO, it's never too early to participate in the fun and festivities of any holiday! One of the payoffs of being a parent is getting to rediscover the joy of these things with your child =)

We didn't do our sons' first halloweens because they were 2 mos and 1 mos. For the last one he was in the car while brother trick or treated! This year, as the youngest is now 1, they will BOTH be going door to door. I have very cute pics of my oldest (@1) dressed up as a monkey with a face full of chocolate! Whose to say they can't have candy? My 1 yr old ♥'s suckers and chocolate too!!!

No it's not silly! I took all mine out when they were babies, plus I got the free candy. haha! I know a lot of houses that give out to the parents just for taking their kids out anyway.



Don't worry what she thinks, she can be a stick in the mud. It's a holiday, one kids love! When she looks back on the photos when she's older, she'll go awwww I want to do that for my kids too. =)

I personally didn't take my girl trick-or-treating until she was 2, but I see no problem in it! I showed my girl and her costume off her first year (she was 6 weeks old) by answering the door holding her and passing out candy, and her second year we showed her off just by going to a friend's halloween party (she helped pass out candy). That was all I needed. But it really is fun to show them off, and if going to a few houses for trick-or-treating is what you're going to do, go for it!

Ok so I am not crazy,
My friend said under 2 is too young because they cant enjoy the candy anyway and that people would think we were trying to collect candy for ourselfs :P Maybe I'll just let people know at the door we are just there for fun......not candy, I already spent 40 dollars on her costume and I am super excited to take a million pictures :)

We're taking Riley out. He'll be 11 months. Although we are taking his older siblings too.
Even without them I would take the babe! Just to our neighbours and friends though.

We took the girls trick or treating their first year.... they were 10 months. We went to 3 houses (all on the same street) of people from our church who loved the girls costumes and thought they were so cute. We went to the first house of someone we didn't know and kind of got a mocking 'who is the candy REALLY for?'.... and went home..... I don't think you are silly at ALL for taking her out. Just be prepared for the reception you 'may' get from some people.

Yeah I agree with the other ladies. If you want to dress her up go for it! My son was 10 months for his first halloween and I dressed him up and took him around the block. I LOVE seeing all the little babes in costumes ^_^
Really, ALL first holidays are for the parents anyways lol.

That's just dumb. If you want to dress your child up and show her off, by all means, do it! I didn't actually take my youngest trick or treating his first halloween, but I did dress him up and take pictures! I think I spent around $20.00 on a costume just for the 20 minutes or so he was in it too. Now that's silly! :)

um thats the stupidest thing i think i've heard in a while!! what is her reasoning that it's not a good idea other than she's too young? (which she's not btw)
have fun, your daughter will have fun, it's always a fabulous memory that i have of my children. hell i even took my middle boy out trick or treating the day we were released from the hospital. he was a cute little pumpkin. :) i think she's being a paranoid freak, sorry.

I don't see the problem with it. It's not like you're gonna be feeding her jawbreakers and candy apples! It's her first Halloween (which happens to be my fav) enjoy it. Dress him/her up and go for it. What's the harm?
