that's a good point Catherine, people get prosecuted for benefit fraud, and so the same rule should apply to MP's expenses! grr it makes me so mad!! lol! :)

They should set an expenses limit. It should be enough to cover rent on a reasonable size second home, basic furnishing and basics needed to do there jobs. Anything considered luxuaries should not be paid for. Anyone claiming or who have been caught claiming for anything that is beyond the needs of the job should be prosecuted. It's no different than benefit cheat... and the politicians and stealing far more!

i totally agree! their salary is, on average, 3 times the average workers in the UK. so why the hell do they need expenses on top of that?? it's crazy! i guess i can understand why they need a second home nearer to London, but i think an apartment or flat should do the job! some of them were claiming for HUGE 2nd homes!! greedy i call it!! :)

people are fuming!!
it all started, i think by some woman MP using expenses to rent out porn!!!
now they've found MP's claiming for cleaning out their moat (!!!), claiming for mortgages that have already been paid off, and even claiming for toilet seats and bath plugs!
it's crazy!
a lot of trust has been lost, and because it was across all parties, you don't really know who to vote for or anything because they're all as bad as each other!!
hence why i don't vote!! haha!! :)

Hi Sarah!....I'm not very familiar with politics over there,but I did see Sky News and B.B.C news,and glanced through some of the newspapers,it seems like everyone was doing it,which is terrible. Once one was caught,a load more were discovered too,and the jig-saw emerged.Here in Ireland,approximately 4 years ago.....the exact same thing happened with our politicians.....they were all rumbled for painting and decorating their houses,building extensions to their houses,foreign holidays,etc,etc.....it was a holy disgrace and the whole country was up in a heap over the scandals.I really don't think our government is trusted ever since by the irish people,its a real stab in the back that they could be so corrupt. And now the same thing has happened on yer side of the water too.How are ye dealing with it over there?Are people furious?
