Name Your House

You know, I was thinking...way back when, and maybe still today, in certain places, people's houses had names. The only reason I could think of was because they didn't have numerals as identifiers, but there may be other reasons. I haven't researched it thoroughly.

So, if we were to go back to that - or adopt it here in America, or where you live....what would you name your house?

I like The Jade Little Cottage....though it has nothing to do with my house, just like the name jade and cottages in general.

That's cute! I don't have a house yet so I dunno, but I think The Jade Little Cottage is a nice name!

what about the house you'd want?  a dream house?

My dream house is a log cabin tucked off the side of a mountain by the lake - like the home I grew up in - cept it wasn't a log cabin.. just at the base of a mountain and by the lake.

Mountain Meadow Manor perhaps... there are a couple businesses around here with mountain meadow in their names so something similiar......... but for all I know my dream house may end up being a barn style house with a partially natural pond and willow trees surrounded by the picket fence...

LOl, I actually do have a Jade little cottage. It's on the lake and the inside it has beautiful pine walls and woodwork. I love it except it's getting too small for the three of us. :)

I'm sosooooo jealous!  It's on a lake too?  *pouting*

Lol relatives of mine have a lifestyle block that we named "The Farm", 10 acre land with two houses.

Some of the old concrete houses here in New Zealand, have surnames added on their houses

Hmm. I live in a townhouse. So if I was to name it... "Maison de Ville aux beau Jardin". Probably too long. Perhaps "Unfinished Basement" would be more fitting.

I've never heard of people naming their houses before lol! But if I owned a home and had to give it a name it would probably be "the Funny Farm" or something to that effect.

lmao!  I would think you had a lot of land....and a cottage is probably more of a dream home for me.  My current house would be Ugly White Building on the Corner.

Well, we just built a beautiful house on the water - everyone here calls it Le Grand Maison Rouge (The Big Red House), but I would call it Bird's Rest or Heron View or Sanctuaire Des Oiseaux. The bird's make me happy :) Yes, yes, apart from my dog, they are my best friends here - but I have a lovely home!!!
