NO SCHOOLING?

On the series show "Our America with Lisa Ling", she did a bit on "Extreme Parenting" featuring 4 families. The one family that stuck out to me was the "No Schooling" family. The kids are not in school and not home schooled. They learn what they want to, when they want to. The oldest kid in the family was telling Lisa Ling, as he was playing video games, that he was learning extensive hand/eye coordination playing video games (he's 11). They also have 3 other children. The family follows no curriculum with their kids in terms of teaching what kids normally learn in school or through home school. Thoughts?

But Lisa, your kids are much younger, right? Are you still going to take that approach when they are 11 or 12?

this is a question not a judgment....i know here that even if you home school there has to be some accountablity to the school board as all children are required by law to attend school or be home schooled....is that the same in the us?? if so lisa what do you have to show to the school board? and i know a few people on here have said their kids have been home schooled or unschooled but are going to uni? how does that work, do they just do exams or what ever when and if the time comes?

My children learn what they want to, when they want to. I find that if I let them lead, their minds are just ravenous to learn more and more.

We don't follow a curriculum. It's working well for us so far.

Don't confuse this however, with no discipline, no structure and no boundaries :).
