The only thing that scares me about aliens is how WE will react to them if they reveal themselves. As they are obviously more intelligent then we are and we have a tendency to fight everything we do not understand, I fear we will try to wage war with them and get are arses kicked!
As far as ghosts go... my husband has seen ghosts. He was at his aunts house that is somewhere in between Clatskanie, OR & Astoria, OR in a old old house back in the woods and he would hear a group of african americans playing music on the porch... he also saw a man "walk" past a window, chest up, that could not have physically walked past this window as the house was off the ground a good ways and you would have had to be awfully tall to even see the top of your head let alone your chest up!
My MIL & husband seemingly have some sort of psychic connection, although she's been drugging herself and her intuition is WAY off every time I talk to her! When they lived together when we were teens it was pretty dead on, kinda creepy!
I had a dream about my husband before I met him, age 14. It was Aug. after my bday (21st) and I had a dream about important days to put in a calendar and Mar. 5th was WAY important & like the ONLY day that stuck out in my mind when I woke up... couldn't figure out why for the life of me???? My husband moved to the coast, where we grew up together, in Oct. and didn't start school until Nov. Oddly enough his bday is Mar. 5th! Also all of my young childhood dreams of my wedding day always contained a faceless man... until a few months after dating my husband and he was my groom. Also quite odd, our wedding looked just like it did in my dream! Unfortunately I have seemingly lost my touch :( I miss my odd psychic things!

I love ghost stories!
My Nana used to be able to see them, My Aunt see's them.
About 15 or so years ago, one of my Aunts was livving in a house that used to be owned by a sailor.
One night she woke up to her two daughters standing (like as if they were sleep walking), with the sailor standing in the middle of them.
There is a story in my family, I can't recall it correctly but their was a house/building in the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand, where my Nana used to see her relatives in a mirror or something.
I remember about 5 years ago, I woke up inthe middle of the night to see a tall figure standing at my bedroom door (when I was living with my parents).
Three years ago when I was sharing a room with my sister,we were up late one night and the rest of the family were in bed sleeping, we decided we were going to sneek some alcohol from the kitchen into our bedrooms.
I went to have a quick swig and said something to my sister then I heard an old women's voice comming from the lounge that said "Ya better hurry up then!" according to my sister, I went as white as a ghost then we both bolted back to the bedroom.
We have also had our cellphone light turn on in the middle of the night too.

My best friend and I are HUGELY into ghost stories etc. When she finally makes it out here we're going to do the ghost tour. One point will be to put my hubby in the hotel room where a "lady of the night" tickles mens toes! Tombstone has quite a few ghosts, Bisbee does too. LOL we're more excited about that part of her trip than seeing the grandcanyon.

aww that is sad, children ghosts always get to me, they are rarely happy (in my experience anyways)
i never did any in depth research, but i've googled it, and i can't find any info. i should talk to my dh's aunt tho, she might know something. she is in charge of the historical walks thru okotoks and the like. from what i've heard, the theatre ghost was a janitor at one time, but no one knew how he died. the liquor store ghosts, i have no idea (that store has been around for probably 50 years and changed hands so many times that the original story (if there was one) has been lost).
i do know that the train station (indecently right across the street from where i live) is haunted by the woman in white. you can see her around the tracks, crying, waiting for her lover to come home. (that story is actually in a book about hauntings in alberta)
i actually just did a ghost walk thru kensington (an older area in Calgary) and that was pretty neat. i didn't get any pictures of orbs tho :( maybe next time! i learned quite a bit, like the street in front of the Red Robins (use to be a brothel) is haunted by a whore (actually the head mistress lol) that likes to ride her horse up and down the street :)

Jocelyn - did you ever do any research on those places to see why they are haunted?
Hauntings are cool. They're also kind of sad. In a hotel in Bisbee there is a child ghost who drowned and plays with a ball and visitors things - I often wonder if he's lonely. Misses his mum. Etc. I kind of figure he runs out of energy to manifest and sort of ceases to exist, so time doesn't mean a lot but I still wonder if he's sad & lonely. Just a weird feeling I get when I'm there. LOL I rarely go there I don't like the sadness.

As far as aliens go, I think that there's deinfately some type of life in space. We know of over 350 planets orbiting other stars, and in our milky way alone there are probably billions of planets we havent found yet. I sometimes dont understand people when they say they dont belive that there is life on other planets.. I mean Earth is here, and here we are, what is so different from Earth in terms of being a planet Vs all the other planets.. There must be some type of life.. whether little green men, or creatures..

ok Krista, its morning! lol
I was walking to school one morning. i was 16, around 8:30, it was bright and sunny out. I have literally just gotten to the other side of our fence, when i heard this soft "wirrr-ing". kinda like a helicopter, but coming from straight above me, and not so choppy sounding. so i looked up and i saw this "craft" of some sorts. it looked kind of like a...hamburger (lol bear with me!) generally a rounded shape, a long smaller dome on both the top and the underside and a long rounded rectangle for the main body of it. there were circles all throughout the main rectangle body part of it, not many, maybe 6 or so. as i was looking at it (thinking wtf?) it shot up straight into the sky and disappeared. it didn't leave a trail of smoke, nothing, but the sound stayed for like half a sec after it had gone.
yeah i booked it to school that day lol.
as for ghosts! my high school is haunted and so is the liquor store where i work.
at work, we have a gentleman who comes into the store, once a week or so. the front door opens, the buzzer sounds, and then the beer room door opens. we see him come in! but he never leaves! we also have another ghost "steve" who "works" at the store as well. there will be no one in the store, and we will hear beer bottles moving in the cooler room, wine bottles get moved overnight into new and strange places, the radio will change stations, etc etc. he's not a bad ghost, just a little annoying lol.
if you are in our high school at night (i was frequently) and in the science hallway alone, every so often it will sound like someone starts running at the opposite end, towards you, dragging their hand along the lockers, so all the locks lift up and clank back down. we have to keep a specific light on in the theatre (at all times) for the ghost that is in there. a new kid didn't know, turned off that light, and it went soo cold, you could see your breath. all of the electronics started going off, the lights started flickering. as soon as we turned the light back on, everything stopped.
my parents house also has a ghost (well a few really). one i have seen, from about, 4 feet away. he looks like a teenager. short black hair, red hoodie, jeans, i ran into him on the stairs going to the basement). everyone who sleeps in our basement reports seeing lights on the floor moving all around (like when you shine a flashlight on the floor).
i also got pushed (hard) out of a graveyard once, but there was no one behind me.

I was staying at the Banff Springs Lodge one summer and the head manager (friend of my husband) took us to dinner in an intimate restaurant in the main lodge. He and his fiance told us a story about returning from a new year's party (they live on the grounds)through the atrium overlooking the ballroom (right outside of the restaurant where we were dining). It was empty. late and quite dark and as they walked through, Robert heard someone say his full name directly into his ear in a loud whisper. The hairs on his body stood up and he looked around but saw no one, his girl friend looked at him and said "what?" - he told her and they both felt a presence and skedaddled out of there. My 6 month old started to fuss so I took him out and started to walk this area to sooth him - there was a wedding in the ball room so I was watching the people, when I the hairs on my arms and neck stood up and I felt a very menacing presence. I instinctively shielded my baby and looked around, and got out of there as fast as I could. Oh, yes, there are spirits among us...

Well, I could recount the first reading I did...freaked the hell out of me! I had no idea what was happening. I was talking to my husband's step-mom (one of many thanks to his crummy "father") and everything I said made sense to her. And instead of getting really upset or angry she just got totally calm...and then she thanked me. Turns out I was "channeling" her son who had passed away several years before in a car crash. I didn't know what was wrong with me. I had been having trouble sleeping for the first two nights we were there and I kept having this feeling of being watched. I found out that night that she had left his electric guitar in the room I was sleeping in.

As far as UFOs - my grandparents have seen them near their farm - my grandpa recalls one with octagon windows, and that it was hovering above the farm -- it then went over near the power station -- they've seen weird activity near the powerstation. Then my other family members seen one last summer over the fram again - they said it was weird cause it was a yellowish light, it stopped in space, and zoomed this way and that -- they were freaked out! so who knows these days!

And Jocelyn...I'd like to hear about your UFO story...I'll just read it in the morning when it's light out and I'm not home alone. I'll probably regret it though, because you live pretty close to me and I don't know if I want to think about UFOs touching down near my town! There have been a few cattle mutilation stories in the past few years...where organs are removed as if by a surgeon, all blood is drained, sex organs and eyes missing...creepy! Even crop circles freak me out! There are way too many signs of aliens right where I live!

I definately believe we are not the only lifeforms in space. It doesn't seem logically possible with all the different atmospheric conditions that are out there. We are finding more and more evidence of that all the time. I'm on the fence with if taliens have been here or not though. Roswell and a few videos I've seen REALLY make me wonder though so I'm leaning towards probable.
I did something strange one night. I was walking home from my Grandma's to my house (5 blocks) when I was 12. I seen a streak across the sky that was DEEP shades of red, orange and yellow trail across the air 30 feet above my head and 100 feet long. It was so fast and intense. No idea what is was to this day, I checked and not the Northern Lights, WAY too low.

I think there are other life forms out there...and it scares the hell outta me! Nothing in the world freaks me out like aliens and ghosts...hearing stories from people who swear to have seen either one scares me so much my eyes start to water just listening to their stories! So, yeah, I think there's something out there, but I hope I never have to witness it!
Ghosts aren't so bad, really. I live with them and no I'm not talking about my husband. ;)
My whole family has "the gift". Or as my dad says "The force is strong with us." I know my daughter sees them. I don't see them, I hear them. Starts off as a kind of whisper that you can't really understand what's being said and then I get flashes of things. It first hit me when I was about 16-17 years old and I was driving down to visit my husband (then boyfriend's) father. We had to drive past Huntsville Penatentiary and I will never forget the screaming that followed me for miles. By the time we finally got to the house I was so exhausted I slept for four hours.
As a result of this I can't stand hospitals, prisons, and other institutions. Graveyards and funeral homes really aren't so bad. It's the places where there was so much hate and misery that are horrible for me. It's like all that energy just leaves a burnt spot on the place and nothing is left but an ugly scar.
So I don't mind dead people for the most part. :)

I firmly believe that we are not alone. I find it hard to believe that our little speck of dirt in the universe is the ONLY place capable of sustaining life. I think there are other civilizations out there, obviously more advanced than we are since they can get to us but not us to them. The only thing I worry about though, is if they are benevolant or not. I would like to think that they are only seeking peace and co-existance. But then there's the part of my mind that has "bought into" the whole sci-fi version of what aliens want. Movies like 'Signs', 'The Day the Earth Stood Still', hell, even Independence Day lol I really, really hope they are nice and I really, really hope they aren't slimy. LOL But that's just because I have an aversion to slimy things.

How do we know their little green men though? They could very will be a bug like creature, an aquatic creature or just like us! Hell for all we know they could be cats and all the cats here are just acting dumb and gathering intelligence.
Ya never know! I do believe there are other intelligent beings out there. It's very arrogant to assume we are the only ones within the entire vastness of space. Just because we haven't met them yet doesn't mean they don't exist!
