Off to Vaccinate my 1 year old!

I'm off to the doctor who I've had for the last 23 years of my life. He is going to vaccinate my baby for the 4th time in his little one year old life.
I also vaccinated my other 5 kids too.
I have a fellow homeschooler who does not vaccinate any of her children and thinks I am ignorant to do so myself. HA.
So for those who don't vaccinate which reason would you find acceptable for us who do when you ask us why on earth we would let a doctor inject a foreign substance into our child's bodies.

I usually just look at them and say "Well I vaccinate because I know it works to prevent otherwise very dangerous life threatening diseases and I don't want my kids to die from something I could have prevented."
Why isn't that good enough?

The vaccine debate always makes me think of this clip. It's about two and a half minutes in, Although the whole clip is hilarious!

Yeah, I didn't much care what people did until I had a baby and realized she's completely unprotected for the first few months, and even then not very well. If my kid died of whooping cough because some other parents decided not to vaccinate and didn't say anything to me, I'd be pissed. Well, that's putting it lightly. I hope that parents who don't vaccinate at the very least inform those around them of their choice so that people can choose whether or not to have their little ones possibly exposed to things.

I don't think it's fair to expect I stay home with my newborn for months. It should be all on the people who want to carry sicknesses around to stay at home and not spread them. That's my selfish opinion.

Oh wow you actually think that by proper nutrition and eliminating toxins from your body your immune system doesn't improve?

Haha, I just thought "Oh God that immune boosting" sentence is going to kill Kate.

actually the amount of mercury in the vaccines is more than would be considered toxic waste. Even the ones no mercury is in, it still has aluminum in.

Because your misinformed decisions can possibly KILL other children.

Okay. I have to stop now because the "boosting the immune system naturally" thing is not only a false-hood but it gives me a migraine every time I see it and just makes me mad.

Why isnt it good enough that we explain why we don't vaccinate yet we still need to defend out decision. Pretty soon this thread is just going to go to calling people down who don't vaccinate..every thread i seen about pro-anti vaccines does that. Its very insulting to see a group of people sit around and call people down for their decisions. I don't vaccinate because of the information i gathered from legit sources. Other people vaccinate for the same reasons. I choose to do what i feel is best for my child and putting harmful chemicals in her body is not protecting her in my opinion. I would rather boost her immune system naturally. Which i have been doing an excellent job at this. Shes a year old and has never been sick.

You do realize the amount of "harmful chemicals" (there is no mercury in vaccines any more) is in trace amounts and is flushed out of the body within 24-48 hours, right?

I'm pro-vaccines too. I thought there was only mercury in "some" flu shots, am I wrong?

Its not what ifs that make people not vaccinate. Its not wanting to inject their children with mercury and other harmful chemicals that could kill them.

Good for you! I get so pissed off when people don't vaccinate AT ALL for no reason other than "but what IF..." *eye roll*

I don't know why that isn't good enough. In Saskatchewan a baby died last week because of whooping cough. His twin sister is in the hospital with it. She may pull through, I hope for the mother's sake she does.

That is good enough reason for me. Those babies were newborns, they were too small to have gotten the vaccine so they ended up full force with it.

My children are all vaccinated. They've been exposed to a few of the things they were vaccinated for. In each case, they ended up with a muted version or did not get it at all because of the vaccine.

It's not just my children I protect, it is every child that they may come into contact with. They're fully up to date with their boosters and will continue to be.

As for the argument that "these diseases are not around anymore". Ya, here a few have been eradicated. Not so in other countries. We have family and friends who travel, they play with our children. It doesn't even have to be one of them who contracts it, it could be anyone on that plane who is a carrier. That carrier then comes here and starts an outbreak. Awesome. If my kids ever want to travel overseas with school or one of their activities (like cadets) they can because they've been vacc'd.

I do not and never will understand why people don't vacc there kids. I've heard a lot of reasons but none are good enough for me. My children's health come first. My peace of mind comes first. If I didn't vacc and it had been my child who exposed the newborn I mentioned above, I would be devastated.
