Pepsi or Coke?

Kind of thought of this because of the comparison of butter to margarine, so I am curious....

Do you prefer Pepsi or Coke? And why?

We all know that neither are good for you, but I have always been told that Coke has so much more sugar in it than Pepsi. I have also been told that having to do with the ingredients in it forensics is able to use Coke to help get the blood stains off of cement after they have done their work and investigations.

I personally am a Pepsi drinker because of my husband. That is his drink. It seems as though he converted me. I use to drink Coke and other Coke products when I lived at home because of my family (Except for Dr. Pepper--I love Dr. Pepper, I always have and that is a Pepsi product)

No he is really particular, it is just that the flavour of Pepsi Raw is something he particularly likes.

I don't know of anyone who will drink any type of soda that is handed to them, so I think that would be interesting if he is.

Eurgh I tried that and it's disgusting, as is Red Bull Cola!!! I love the sweets but you expect the synthetic flavour, with the drink you don't.

I tell you what is an interesting but odd flavour Pepsi Raw it is Cola made using natural flavours, and it tastes like fizzy cola bottle sweets, I hate it, which is odd because I love the sweets :-)

I disagree Jennifer to me Coke is definately sweeter in taste than Pepsi, I can taste the syrup in Coke whereas I can't in Pepsi. It's funny how different people perceive taste so differently...

Lol it cracks me up that what we call Walkers Crisps here has the name Lays in other countries =] I dunno why but it's funny that they couldn't keep the same name everywhere. Here in the UK Pepsi is sweeter than Coke.

Jane, I am the same way in that I can drink both Coke and Pepsi. I don't hate Coke, I just prefer Pepsi. I can taste the difference; Coke is way sweeter to me.

Coke for me. I haven't read the thread yet but there a many people I know (my husband for one) that say they can't taste the difference but I totally can. I'll drink Pepsi if that's all that's offered...it's not like it's totally yucky or anything but I prefer Coke over any other cola.

Other products that are the "same" taste different in different countries. For example Lay's salt & vinegar chips in Canada can knock your nostrils out, but in the States they're very mild and to me should be called "Salt & Salt".

Whelp, there is a real taste difference between the taste of sugar and high fructose corn syrup. Despite what the corn refiners commercials say.

I'm surprised to read that Pepsi and Coke are made differently and taste differently around the world. I don't see why that would be...Coke is Coke and Pepsi is Pepsi.

I'd like to think it was a sassy reply on a debate forum. I surprised you thought it was argumentative in tone. I just pretty certain of what I said.

Yeah, I actually do think there might be some Coke or Pepsi product internationally which might be still made just with sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. Don't know for sure but they do mess with the formula in different countries.

I agree, Coke and Pepsi taste different in different countries, they have different ingredients (i.e. the sugar is different because it is grown in different parts of the world). If my memory serves me right Pepsi is sweeter in the States than it is in the UK.

No, Coke, Pepsi taste different because they are made differently. Same with Canadian beer sold in the US, Molson in particular. I know you live in Canada and drank it in the states....but I'm going to choose to listen to my vast amount of friends who have gone back and forth, lived in different countries and attested to the same. I will also rely on my own well travelled palate than a visit to Nevada once.

Kate, Coca Cola Enterprises has the rights to manufacture and distribute Dr P in the UK, it falls into their portfolio of drinks, as does Schweppes, Fanta and Sprite. Although you are right they do not own it.

Jennifer, Britvic Soft Drinks (BSD) have the right to distribute and manufacture Pepsi drinks as well as 7UP amongst many other soft drinks. Pepsico IS a separate company to BSD but BSD distributes Pepsi in the UK. I KNOW this because I worked for them for more than 3 years.

Ok rant over, sorry guys I think it's a mix of my hormones and being on bed rest I am BORED!

I haven't had pop in 10 years but..

In the states, Pepsi is the way to go.

However, if you ever visit Canada or move there like I did, you'll probably like Coke better up here. It taste completely different when you cross the border.

I'm also gonna point out that it tastes different in the the UK too. So you guys who are arguing how much better Pepsi or Coke taste in these different countries are arguing about several different tasting colas with the same name plastered on the can.

I don't drink regular coke or pepsi, has to be diet, regular is just wayyy too sugary to me. Doesn't matter the brand but I do seem to buy coke more often just b/c my husband is a coke drinker and i just buy a case when i buy a case for him (although my case lasts for like 2 weeks where as his is gone in 2 hours :S Gross...)

Ah right =] so it's used under licence by coca cola in the UK - just looke don the actual Dr Pepper website and they also made 7up, whereas here in the UK that's used under license by Pespsi...sooo confusing!

No, Dr. Pepper is occasionally distributed by Coca-Cola or Pepsi but it IS its own company and is not owned by a separate company.

I am a Dr.Pepper person too. But if I had to choose I'd choose coke. Only because my grandma use to make us chocolate cokes. It may sound gross but try it. Just take a coke and mix it with chololate syrup.

But something that is gross is my aunt used to mix pepsi and milk eww...
