Charlaine Harris is the author and the books wre originally called the "Southern Vampire Mysteries" but have since been dubbed the Sookie Stackhouse Novels and True Blood refers to the synthetic vampire blood beverage :-) There are now 10 books in the series, and you do need to read them in order. I'm betting the library has a long wait list! I bought the first 7 books via Amazon on a special boxed-set pricing. I do admit that I did not care for book 9, and I am reading so-so reviews on book 10. Good luck!

I don't get the whole vampire thing, there's like a million shows. Everyone's either raving about Twilight or True Blood it seems.

Yeah, I'd have to go for Team Eric as well but I read all of the Sookie Stackhouse books before I watched the True Blood series. Once again, the books are way better. I'm a week or 2 behind True Blood but ooooohhhhhh I hope they show more of Eric's ass!
I'm over the Twilight thing because the writing and acting is so horrible. Taylor Lautner is jailbait, and I cannot stand Kristen Stewart either. I only saw New Moon on video a few weeks ago and thought it was such a horrible movie. Again, I loved the books, but the movies suck. Above all, I love imagining what the characters look like in my mind, and not what Hollywood shows us. With the True Blood series, it's no where near the books, but I can get past that.

Team Edward. Jacob and Bella are not meant to be, as evidenced by the 4th book. Edward and Bella are soulmates.

I'm going to have to go with Team I-Couldn't-Care-Less. The writing makes me want to gouge out my brain so that I can forget I ever read them, and the movies are just bad. Robert what's-his-face will always be Cedric Digorry to me, and I hated him in those movies too. Kirsten Stewart can't act. All in all despise this series thing.

Ugh... I absolutely cannot stand Kristen Stewart either Joanna!!
She's just such a terrible, lifeless actor. She's always sneering at cameras in public too!! She just drives me nuts... /rant

For that very reason, I haven't bothered to see the movies. I might read the book if I ever get time... but that's very rare and I have a list of books that I am itching to read before them.

un, i am definitely for teamm edward!! lol!! i love his intensity, and i can only imagine what it must be like to be in bed with edward, lol!! however i do find taylor lautner a fine piece o tail. i think he is better looking than robert pattison, i just like the charachter of edward a heck of a lot better!

My little sister would SO be into this debate!!! She is such an Edward lover!! But she loves the actor who plays Jacob, Taylor Lautner.
I loved the first 2 books and liked the 3rd one but HATED the 4th one.
Anyway, I'm team Edward all the way!!! He is just way too good looking and intense! Love it. R-Patz does an OK job at Edward, but the Edward in the book is wayyy hotter than Jacob. However, in the movies Jacob's not bad at all! But he acts like a whiny kid sometimes... guess that is because he's like 16.

I watched the Twilight movie, and I enjoyed it, not enough to buy it or rush out and see the sequels. I don't get the big fuss about the movie. Plus Kristen Stewart makes me want to rip my eyeballs out.

Ha-ha! Caitlin it's about the Twilight movies and the new movie is out this week so that's all you hear in the entertainment news! It's the 3rd movie and the acting is just so horrible. The books are better. But for those who know the series know the end result.

I have no idea what you are talkign about (my guess is something world cup?) so I vote team I couldn't care less.. I'm not really a big sports watching fan, I prefer to play the sports (rugby to be precise..) so ya, that's my input there..
