So I've just noticed the smacking/hitting debate thread has been posted for the gazillionth time.
What are the threads that annoy you the most or sick of seeing?
Mine would have to be the smacking debate, breast vs bottle feeding.
Thanks

I suspect most of the trolls are actually people who have been previously blocked or removed from CoM, and register fake profiles to come back and stir up trouble. We've caught a few of those out........

Or they are bored teenagers who think it's funny to make up some really stupid post.

I love when the trolls get called out for who they really are!

But even sadder, I have been on Mom boards- remember the old AOL boards?! And there were women that were not just trolls, they had severe psychaitric issues by making up babies, kids, families, and fantasy lives. And these were women that were posting on a very regular basis. And it happened at least 3 instances. But the most extreme: There was one women that I posted with for 2 1/2 years, and it turned out that she had an early trimester miscarriage. She lived in this on-line message board fantasy for 3 years making up everything related to her non-existent son!

exactly who changes their name to take out their aggression? couldn't it be that they're bored and want a change?

eww sounds like fun. Don't worry people not going there. Do they ever get caught?

Possibly. Or just the regulars on CoM making up names and taking on different personas to get out their aggression. I've seen that on other boards.

If you had a post like either, Shannin, it would have been one among many. That's why I'm tired of them, because I've seen them so often.

"is it ok to drink beer while pregnant?" -idiots......... red wine one glass a day...... but NO BEER
"drugs while pregnant?" - I personally wonder why they even have to ask.... don't they get NO
"names?"-here lets compare names and brag while putting others down
"breast fed babies vs. formula babies" -lets have a contest so we can say "i am right" and brag about being better than you because we breastfeed".... I have never SEEN one of these started by a formula feeding mom...

The, "Is it okay that I don't have sex with my husband" ones and "is porn cheating".

Also circ and abortion debates, forget it. I'm convinced some people have folders on their computer with the same studies and info to cut and paste into these debates...boring.

The ones where they ask a question, but they really DON'T want you to be honest, they are after someone to validate them. Um, nope, not happening. If you don't like the answers you are going to get, don't ask the fucking question.

OK, so I am not going to repeat the ones that have already been mentioned, but here are some others that piss me off:

"How soon can I turn my infant forward facing?"

"How can I make my kid sleep in his own bed?"

The public school versus private school versus homeschooling debate can get heated, BUT for the most part those debates are not as intense as the others.

Awesome Holly. I'm glad you were able to come to a good decision for your family. I will admit I circ'd my oldest because I was 17 and didn't know any better. My family is Jewish in heritage, so I never questioned it. I then became a nurse, did my own research, and saw some pretty bad medical things happen when men had to have emergency circ's later in life. I'm happy with my decision and chose it for my second son. But it is a very personal decision for parents to make.

I thought of more too!!!
I'm 16 with a baby and want another one.....grow up, use protection, and quit saddling your fiancial responsibilities on others because YOU can't afford the kid you have (in 99% of cases) and are relying on others to pay for your kid (even if it is the dad!)
Smoking debates...you either smoke or don't. Just like drinking. STFU and worry about yourself.
MY StepKid's Mom is Psycho!.....F-U. Sometimes she is psycho, but guess what, that is her kid! And your bf or husband CHOSE to make a baby with her so BUTT OUT! I'm sure you'd be pissed as hell if another woman was trying to take your kid away from you.

Actually Christina, this debating grop made me change my mind on circumcision... but I never really had to deal with it before (I have all girls) and the only reason I was for circ. was because I thought it was the "norm" and just something parents did without thought. This group really opened my eyes to the whole issue :)

I thought of couple more topics that I've seen time andtime again...

~ aking a question "for a friend" - honey, that didn't work on your high school counselor and it certainly doesn't work here...
~ safety harnesses (aka baby leashes)
~ when to switch to a toddler bed
~ how superior the poster's child is to everyone elses' ("my baby is so smart because he said Mama at 2 weeks old and now at 4 months he's writing his name!" Yeah... you go on believing that one...)
~ "I'm going to schedule activities for my kids over the other parent's parenting time and then tell the kid that it's the other parent's fault they can't go" (and other threads like that) - GOOD LORD! I've been seeng this one a lot and it downright pisses me off... Don't even get me started...
~ "my baby daddy hasn'tpaid child support in _____, so I'm going to deny visitation. Am I right?" - UGG!!! Another one that pisses me off, especially because there are people who agree with the poster and don't realize that it's a LEGAL issue and if they encourage denying visitation they could be encouraging the poster to kidnap their child!!! ::sigh::

Anyway, I'm sure I'll be back with more - this tread is kinda therapeutic! :D

OMG, and I stay at home and get paid threads. One just popped up.
Also teen moms whining about older moms about teenagers having babies. (Wait until your daughter is 15 and comes home pregnant, then we will have this conversation again.)
And another one is, "I HATE MY BABY DADDY!" YOU picked him, YOU screwed him. YOU made a baby with him. Now STFU and hand your kid over to him WITHOUT BITCHING so your kid doesn't have to suffer because you decided you picked a dumbass to father your child.

Circumcision, ear piercings and vaccines! No one is going to change their minds from debates online, and it gets nasty and vicious with people screaming neglect and abuse from both sides! Just because parenting is done differently does not make you RIGHT or the other side RIGHT. It may be right for your kid, but your kid only.

~ young mom vs. older mom
~ teen moms starting a thread just because they want a pat on the back for being so awesome... yeah, not gonna get it from me!
~ in-laws/future in-laws
~ daycare/babysitter bashing (mostly bashing daycares or saying they would never leave their kids with someone other than themselves and moms who do are selfish and/or bad parents)
~ sensitive issues that can cause legal issues (I saw one woman post how she had her boyfriend's ex-girlfriend's tires slashed becuase she thought the woman had called CPS on her...)
~ posting a question and then arguing with anyone who gives advice because it's not what they want to hear
~ threads seeking validation because they know they made a bad choice but don't want to admit it

... I think I'll stop there... for now :)

Holly - posted on 07/02/2011

~ spanking
~ potty training (I HATE when people forc their kids to potty train and then don't understand why their child is afraid o the toilet! Ugh...)
~ ear piercing
~ vacciations
~ "should I take my child to the doctor?"
~ "am I/could I be pregnant?"
~ any thread where they call their child's father a "sperm donor." Unless you actually went to a sperm bank, then he's a father, not a sperm donor! Yes, even if he left... Ugh...

That's all I got for now... I'msure I'll be back as I think of and/or see more! :)

I just think that some things probably should be left "agree to disagree" when the debating gets too intense.

I am kinda getting sick of a lot of threads where they always debate the same things. Both sides always have at-least ONE person who just wants to keep it going.... as conflict.

Then it is the shear determination to argue instead of debate things like, breast vs bottle, welfare, and spanking vs not spanking.

yes potty training. Definitively smacking debate and same for breastfeeding. I hate seeing the "my baby can do (blah blah blah) what is your baby up to?" to which I feel like saying : STFU! Stop showing off your fucking kid and trying to make other mums feel like there's something wrong with theirs!!!" or "my 13mth old isn't walking yet, should I be worried?" this is where my head hits the keyboard.

"Am I pregnant"
