Background info
Eric is 2 he has his first ear infection that wasn't going away so I started him on antibiotics Monday. Yesterday, Wednesday, I notice white patches in his mouth.
They were on the inside of his top lip and the top gums too.
Today I see more patches on the inside of his bottom lip.
He says owie and cries when he ate a kiwi today, and again with ketchup.
but he is also saying owie and pointing to his belly.
I'm what you call a medication hesitant person, I prefer using natural methods and letting the body deal with things it can handle.
Ok so I'm fairly sure this is thrush, the after hours nurse I called also thinks it's thrush.
She advised me to take him into the dr tomorrow morning.
Problem is, I'm 35 weeks pregnant, Eric is still breastfeeding. And think it would be a bad deal to pass this on to a newborn!
I'm taking acidophilus already so that should help protect me. My midwife told me to buy tea tree oil and mix it with water and apply it to my nipples after he nurses. As well Assad ing my hands a ton. My friend tried the drs medication on her daughter but it didn't work. She ended up using gentians violet and it worked in a few days
I'm giving Eric the acidophilus as well.
This is the busiest community I'm in so hopefully I can get alot of help soon!
Does this sound like thrush?
Do you think I should take him to the doctor tomorrow?
Should I just use the acidophilus, tea tree oil and gentians violet to treat it?
Should continue with the antibiotics?
My head is spinning, please help!
