I like to send my son to school with valentines but other than that I hate it. My hubby and I's first Valentines together I had just gotten out of the hospital for having my gallbladder removed and we went and saw the movie "Hannibal" Romantic huh? He gets me flowers or something once in awhile but it's one holiday I really don't like.

im not big on celebrating it either, We did more when we were dating, but since being married, we more or less get each other a card and watch a movie, or just a card if we are both working, or one is.

the fact that we are still married lets me know how much he loves and vice versa lol. I'd probably get angry if he decided to spend money on some random crap to give me, that money could be better spent elsewhere or something we actually need, especially while on maternity leave.

We usually just go out for dinner or we cook something and I make a special dessert. This year I'll do something with Freja - probably do some Valentines craft or something. Maybe make a Valentine for Daddy. Last year I made an awesome chocolate cheesecake so I have to top it this year.

I buy the girls a little something, like a valentines day book, and I make a really nice meal, something my husband loves or has wanted me to try making. This year my 3 year old and I are making valentines for her to take to school, which is fun. Lots of paint, glitter, and sequins, plus she's learning to write her name, so she's loving signing it on each card.

I don't celebrate valentines day. Mostly because I've just never cared about it. But partly because my birthday is like, right after it, and I'm much too happy about my birthday to care about anything else. :)

We usually do it the week after or something. I'm not big on going to an overpriced dinner and a forced event because you are supposed to on that day. I'd rather get more for my money and go to a nice dinner/fun event another day.

This year we will actually be flying down to Texas to visit my parents so we might actually do something fun that day. Of course, we won't be paying for it!

I send valentines to school for J to hand out to his class mates.

I don't like all the kitschy pink and red crap or crowded dinner dates, so my husband and I usually go away to the sea or the mountains for a quiet weekend. Few people travel that time of year, so it is secluded and peaceful.
He used to get me jewelry, but we've decided the getaways are much less expensive, more enjoyable for both of us, and I prefer memories to possessions anyway.....besides that, I never knew what to get him in return :P

My son likes the little V-day cards to send to school.



A few years ago, hubby decided to create a new holiday just for us to avoid the commericalism: SAJLOAD-Sharon And Jeff Love One Another Day and it is celebrated one full week later on Feb. 21st.

It is so silly and quirky! We get each other mushy love cards and attempt to go out on a date.

We do a little bit. I think my husband and I use to do more when we were just dating. It doesn't really bother me though. Who really needs Valentine's day when you can celebrate your love any day, right?

My son is in school this year so he is excited to give his classmates Valentine's Day cards :-)

Now that I have a child I celebrate. Before (even married) it was no big deal (to him). It was a big deal to me, I don't know why.

Every little holiday like that is now because I never GOT anything.
My daughter and I make little chocolate candies. She loves it.

Valentines Day is Cole's birthday, so we don't celebrate it on the day anymore. Dh and I celebrate either the weekend before or the weekend after now. It's cheaper that way anyway! :) And I buy something small for the kids and give it to them the day before or after.

We don't do the cards and all flowers and stuff but we celebrate our love for each other.
My hubby will be working this year and once i figure out what his shift will be i will then find out if my parents can look after our kids for us so we can go out for dinner or something even if we just have a picnic at the park. It will also depend what my parents are doing.

my hubby's middle name is valentine so he thinks the day should be all about him....but we aren't really into the commercail aspect of the day, but try and do something nice make a nice dinner at home, and a card but thats about it, i also let my girls do something silly like bake daddy a heart shaped cake or biscuits or silly decorations..

Sometimes we celebrate. I actually happen to like V-day. Even before I had a SO, I liked it. This year the kid and I are making hearts from her thumbprints on heart doilies. We'll stick a magnet on the back and send them to her grandparents and aunts and uncles. The husband is working that night. We'll likely have our Valentine date at some point later that week. That's fine by me...less crowded.
