When it comes to porn as long as it's consenting adults then fine, whether watching or taking part. I don't think porn in itself objectifies women, it's some men watching it that does that. If that's the case it's the man you need to lose not the porn.

I also agree it can be detrimental to a relationship but again it's not the porn itself that is the problem it's simply that people need to be in agreement as to whether it's appropriate for both parties.

I don't think it's necessarily detrimental to society, but I think it does have the potential to destroy relationships when the couple is NOT in agreement about what's okay & what's not.

I like porn and so does my husband. It isn't detrimental to society. Sex is the oldest profession in the world. It has only been in the 70 to 80 years that it has been a problem. If you watch the history of television sex was the forefront of movies. It used to be availiable for everyone to see in every movie. Every type of sex acts was shown. No censorship at all.
For someone to say it causes people towant to rape is bullshit. Rape is only about power and control not sex.

There's nothing wrong with a little objectification. It is not always the evil people make it out to be. It all depends on how much control and choice the person has. If a woman enjoys working in the sex industry, who is anyone to tell her that she's wrong?

I like it. Damian likes it. No it's not detrimental to society, it creates jobs. The participants are objectifying themselves and I doubt they care, they're porn stars. It's not a victimless industry if you're talking about child porn. Legit porn that is sold at the adult shop has been filmed using people who are of legal age and consented to the sex. I have seen porn films where the "ohhh baby yeah" and the situation they are in and randomly start having sex is a bit too fake though and it's not a turn on. A lot of the actresses look the same too with long blonde hair extensions, square talon french tip nails, or too many piercings.

I think I like it because the stuff I watch is usually stuff I might like to do in real life, like have sex in public places, or have sex while being watched etc.
If you don't like it, don't watch it, but don't go around demonizing those who do, and please don't say that porn leads to rape or incest etc. etc. it's just not the case. Sure there may be the odd nut job who moves from mags to porn to rape, but odd being the important word.

I had a difficult time wrapping my head around some of the posts in the other thread. Implying that the women were drugged and abused and didn't want to be doing what they were doing. I'm not saying that doesn't happen, I'm sure it does... but we're not talking about snuff porn here. I don't see a problem at all with mainstream porn. I don't think the women are being objectified any more than a woman in any sex act is being objectified. I see nothing wrong with consenting adults who enjoy their job, performing for us.

I was an exotic dancer and I never felt objectified until women started telling me I was being objectified. :/ I enjoyed my job and making money for being an exhibitionist.

The woman in the video is nuts...even though I'm not a fan of a bald lady part, I don't think that means it makes men want to molest. I agree with Krista E. That's how I like it too. Most porn is a bit dull really, and the people either look bored, miserable to be there, or simply exploited. None of which is a turn on. If the participants are enthusiastic and clearly want to be doing their job, then it's great. But that is rare. My hubby really likes stuff made by Nina Hartley that is respectful of women and made by women. A some of them are old-fashioned movies and some are sort of instructional videos for couples. But for more "risque" stuff, I'd rather read a story. Thinking that the person in a movie does not want to be there is a major distraction for me.
