This may seem like a no brainer for some people, and bias for others, but,,,,

Which country has birthed more of the best music artists,,,
America, UK, Canada?
Or have they all had there share of good iconic musicians?

It is a very subjective question, Most of the music I listen to is either Australian, American or from UK and Canada, my preference would be Australian, I think we have some fantastic talent.

I do not have an opinion on this at all. I think all countries have some great stuff and all have some real crap.

My favorites are Van Morrison, the Eagles, Arcade Fire, John Prine, Dave Matthews Band, John Coltrane, Youssou N'Dour, Tariq, Men at Work, Kenny Rogers, Pearl Jam, Kings of Leon, New Order, and Shostakovich. That covers most continents I suspect.

Has anyone ever heard of Johnny Hallyday? France has a lot to answer for on that one. He makes Celine Dion sound good *shudder*. And America allowed Paris Hilton to make music? They call themselves a superpower, but anyone with super powers could have stopped that from happening. I will never forgive the Aussies for the Wiggles either. I also believe that Chinese opera was designed as a torture technique rather than a real musical style.

Some of my favorite artists are from all of those places... Arcade Fire and Neverending White Lights are from Canada. Cat Power and Death Cab for Cutie are from the USA. Queen and Imogen Heap are from the UK.

I personally say Canada is greater, not because our musci is greater but because we were smart enough to pawn off Celine Dion to the US!

I honestly mostly listen to the classics so I couldn't say.

I'm in Canada, and ,me and my hubby LOVE Van Canto! lol, they are amazing! I dunno I like alot of older music from all around the world. Most of the music from 2000 up has pretty much sucked with very few expections. Musicians used to have talent..not show the most skin or sing about hos.... lol

Germany has Van Canto, they're an A capella metal band and they are epic. they do covers of various bands as well as their own stuff which is largely about fantasy and scottish rebellions.
not sure where nightwish and blind guardian are from, but theyre europe as well. America has Weird Al Yankovic. he is awesome i mean really four octaves and his parodies are truly brilliant

Haha funny! I reckon the music that gets played the most comes from America, but it's not necessarily the BEST music, just the most well-known. Sometimes I feel like shooting myself in the foot when I hear the latest no-talenter that's getting played. Of course it all comes down to taste. You will listen to the bands/singers that you like regardless of where they come from. But sometimes you have to dig around to find them because IMO the best musicians aren't the really well known marketed ones but the ones that are paving their own way. I love Missy Higgins (Aussie), Mumford and Sons (UK), Angus and Julia Stone (Aussie).

Seriously - i couldn't tell you about a group from another country. Ok well, theres' celine dion, and um that country singer - both of them are from canada.. thats about all I got.

I know not all the groups I listen to on the radio are american but the radio never tells me "and now! the UKs rising stars..." so I dunno.
