my son is eating his crib

My Son is almost 17 months, and we noticed little teeth marks around the top edging of his crib since he was about 1 year old. We just kind of ignored it and thought it was due to teething it never seemed to get any worse then all of a sudden huge chunks are missing from the edges and the bars of his crib the other day i went into his room in the morning to find him laying down nawing on one of the bars. I knew puppies chewed on funiture but not babies. has anyone else had a similar situration or any advice

My son did the same thing when he was about 9 months to 11 months !!! was terrible !!! his crib as some plastic on top of the the rail but wasent big enoug since he was bitting it with his bottom teeth. i got those plastic rail guard too but when he was chewing them the wood was getting all wet under and at one point he was able to take them out!!! I made sure the paint of the bed wasent toxic.... but theres nothing to to fix the crib...he really went in the wood like a beaver !!! i had to make sure to make him fall asleep in the rocking chair before putting him to bed, and was making him nap in the playpen.

hi my little girl did that you can get protectors for the crib so he cannot bite down on it.we got them and they are great!!!

I've caught my daughter a few times trying to eat her crib, but ours has the rail guards on them. They're just a plastic cover that goes over the side rails. Our crib was given to us and used by 2 other babies so somewhere down the line it got the guards. I don't think they're very expensive, but they do help.

Yeah, Maia did this for a couple of months in the fall when she was teething badly. I picked up rail guards to put on the crib and that seemed to do the trick. You may need to find some double sided tape or something to hold them on though since I found she could take them off.
