New Room Ideas

So we'll be moving into a new house sooner than we had expected (like years too soon lol), anyway I'd like some ideas on how I should re-do Savannah's room. When we move we'll be putting her in her toddler bed and we have a Disney Princess sheet set and a Tinker Bell set. The princess set has pink and some yellow in it and the tinker bell set has a lot of purple and some gold. Right now her room is colored in Plink (a mix of lavender and pink) and has a butterfly border across the top. We're probably going to keep her room like it is because a friend of ours will probably be moving in once we move out and she has a little girl 3 months younger than Savannah. Anyway her daddy said we should paint her room in colors that she can grow with. She's really into Dora right now so that's something else I considered. I was thinking of maybe painting her room pink or purple or plink again lol and maybe having one wall with the stick ons of tinkerbell, princess, and dora. I don't know if that would look tacky or anything. I'd like some ideas. Anything really. It doesn't have to be immediate either because we haven't even been shown the houses we're considering yet, but we know we will be moving. Thanks ladies.

I have to say I'm with you, Jen. I'm not a Sponge Bob fan. Justin watches Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Wiggles and Jack's Big Music Show. He watches maybe an hour a week, unless we have to do his breathing treatments. He gets to watch TV then.

Hey Jen! When Kailynn was born, I was totally against all character themes! So we went w/ a butterfly/dragonfly/flower theme. My brother-in-law and husband paints murals so they did a very nice garden/forest theme on her wall and we painted everything that was white w/ flowers and dragonflies and butterflies (dressers, hampers, picture frames, etc). It is very cute! But now, Kailynn loves the Disney Princesses. So we've just added them to her current theme, and so far it still looks great since the colors go together. And I'm sure as the princesses get older we can take them out and she is back to a "girly" theme, until she finds something else that she likes.
The only thing that worries me right now is her obsession w/ Sponge Bob. I don't think he is going to go w/ our decor, unless we add some underwater aspects to the room. :) LoL!

I like the idea of a garden type theme. I think I'll run that one by my husband. Her room now is kind of butterfly themed, but the only thing themed is the border on the top and when her sheets are  on her crib.

As for Sponge Bob, we decided before she was even born that we wouldn't let our kids watch him. I watched the show a few times and thought it was stupid so we hopefully won't have to ever worry about him lol. Savannah has just started watching tv like last week and right now she only really likes Dora (Dida as she says it) and Wonder Pets.

Hi, I'm not a big fan of character bedrooms ... IMO they out grow them way too fast! I just re-did my girls room ... you can see pictures on our family blog ~

If you really want to do a character room, my choice would be Tinker Bell. You could hang a couple of lil fairies from the ceiling! That would be super cute!

Good Luck!

That's really cute. I'm not all gone ho on a charter room that's why I was thinking of only having one wall with character stickers so they could be pulled done later. I like the idea of just solid colors with added features on the wall. We'll see what happens we still have some time as we haven't even looked in houses yet lol.

We just did my son's room. We did it a kind of antique sports. We figure that could grow with him. It's the only room in the house we've decorated! I'm horrible at colors!! My only suggestion is there plenty of decals and wall borders that are easy to remove and change so growing with her would be easier.
Good luck with the move! Are you moving far?

No we're probably only moving a few miles away. We qualify for a 1st time home buyers assisstance program and we have to be out of city limits which we are already, but we need a bigger house. We're still looking around. We found one we really like, but my dad the realtor has shot it down so we're still looking.

Maybe you should stick with the color scheme your daughter's room is now. I mean, when you guys do move you will want something in her room that reminds her of the old house. That way she will feel comfortable in that new room and not get feaked out about being some place new.
