his bed is the 4 in 1, it goes from a crib, to a toddler bed with the railings, to a day bed w/o railings and then to a full size bed for when he gets older. we made the switch from the crib, to the toddler bed about 2 1/2 weeks ago and he is doing great! at naptime and bedtime, he runs and gets right into bed! he loves it!

My daughter has a crib that converts to a day toddler bed. I have contemplating making the switch because she can climb out of the crib and try to climb back in. I took the side off once but she likes to jump in the crib and it scares me to think she may fall.
But if he's trying to get in at nap time and bed time I think he may be ready. Try it out for a few days an see whta happens.

I'm actually a 'fan' of doing things all at once. To him it would just be one change, the new house has a new bed. I like to do that with rules too. New carpet, no food in living room. Plus, if he's showing interest in a big bed, now's the time!

Hi i was wondering as well my son is 18mth now he shares a room with his big brother who is 6yrs. He has climb out twice and got in to his brothers bed only thing is we move in 6wks & i dint know if i should change it when we move or if that would b 2 much change at once.

I was having trouble with my daughter getting her arm stuck in the top railing of her crib so the pediatrician told me to convert it to a toddler bed. So I did and she is doing great. It doesn't have a railing though on the front which I was afraid of her falling so I put a long body pillow along the bottom of the front which is the length of the bed anyways in case she falls. She never has and she will occasionally get out of the bed to grab a toy to play with but she brings it back to her bed and plays quietly in the morning until I get up. She is 18 months now but we changed her to it when she was 17 months.

I believe he is ready my son will be 1 1/2 on the 24th and has had a toddler bed for almost a month however he has always wanted to sleep with me he will climb up on his bed to watch tv and play and sometimes fall asleep there for a nap

Definitely depends on the child my first (four yrs old now) was in a Toddler bed by now but Billy, my December baby is staying his crib for a little while longer bc he's not quite ready yet...

My little girl has been in her toddler bed for 2 months now and only got out on her own for the first time this morning. Until now she would jst sit in bed and call for me to come and get her, this morning she was waiting at the door with all her stuffed animals at her feet, she looked to adorable. I was worrried about her falling out at first too (even though there is a safety railing that goes halfway down the bed) but put a huge pillow down on the floor, she has yet to fall out but it feels better knowing she will have a soft landing should it ever happen

I was wondering the same thing. I talked to some other moms that I know and they said definitely convert to a toddler bed. My daughter sleeps better in my bed than in her crib. We are going to convert it so that maybe she will sleep through the night. Yeah... she still wakes up a couple of times a night and it drives me crazy! Does your little one still drink a bottle? I can't seem to get mine off. We have weaned her down to only naptime and bedtime but I just want it gone. I guess I will just have to bite the bullet and take it like I did with my older children. It is harder being an over 40 mom and I need my sleep :)

My son has been in his 'big boy bed' for about 2 weeks now. He loves it! It has safety rails on both sides. He has yet to try to crawl out of it. We never told him he couldn't, but we never showed him how he could either. The first morning he woke up in it on his own, we heard him yell, "Bee Boy Bey..Daddy, Bee Boy Bey!!". The only thing was it was 5:30 am!! It is still a bit of a novelty so it's taking a bit longer for him to fall asleep at night, but we really happy at how well he adjusted.

He has 2 railings on the side of his toddler bed, it has full top, bottem and a full back railing (like a day bed) but the front has a railing on each side that goes about 1/3 the length of the crib. I too am worried about him rolling out only because he moves and shifts soooo much thru-out the night, but he is such a sound sleeper, i dont think he would even wake up if he did fall out! he was in it for 2 nights so far and did great! as soon as he has his bath, teeth brushed, story time, and says his goodnights to daddy, he runs into his room, hops right into bed grabs his blanket, turns on his music and is ready to konk out! so far so good! lets just hope it keeps going this way!

We put our daughter in a toddler bed about hmmmm...two or three weeks ago. She has been doing great. One thing we did though was, we put two fluffy pillows down on the floor on the side of her bed, just in case she rolls out of bed she has something soft to land on.

Mine bailed out of her crib 2 nights ago. I'm thinking about putting her in a toddler bed too. I don't want her to get hurt falling out like she did. I just don't want her to be able to get in and out so easily because she'll be able to TRASH her room now. Too bad there's not a lid on those cribs...hahaha
